Ugh I hate to say it but this place is so overrated. Went when the moon was at about a half-wax, so it wasn't as dark as had I gone on a full moon, but still. You go out in a motor boat and you see the phosphorescence in the water stream behind the propellor, but it could have just as easily been a light. Then people get out to swim (I opted not to as I forgot my towel in my rental car and the water was of questionable cleanliness). And the phosphoresce is cool, but it's not the Fantasia-esque experience they make it out to be by any stretch of the imaginatin.
The worst part is that they give you a free drink as part of your ticket (the boats leave from a bar and restaurant), and the tour bus of super-wasted package tourists from middle america had clearly had been there drinking for a while, so they were loud, vulgar, and just overall annoying. Maybe I just got unlucky, but this was not my scene.

Pick a night without a full moon to see these waters at their best! Small microscopic organisms live in the water here and give off a phosphorescent glow. Its so amazing..its indescribable. ! Water just glows. Swim in the water and you glow too! One of my favourite places! ANd there are only about 3 places in the WORLD where you can see this!

A spectacular natural site known for its intense phosphorescence (plankton that glow and sparkle at night). Swimming among these creatures is a hallucinatory experience, as light explodes all over your body. Watching fish swim through is also very entertaining; almost like an underwater meteor shower.
