Okay I got to experience the Gobi full on by walking across it from West to East in 2011. It was a distance off 1130 miles. This s one of the Worlds last wildernesses and no amount of words will do this environment and people justice. It has to been seen and experienced and the best way to do that is on foot. Most go by 4X4 but that misses so much. Take the time and experience it before like everywhere it gets developed.

When I went there I expected a sea of sand. What I found were unspoiled steppes full of wonder and life. Flat, yes. At times one can see a lone rider moving across the horizon. Frequently one sees birds and animals and, if you're with a knowledgeable guide, you can look at markers that could as easily be in museums.
