Golden Gardens is a great beach and park. The views across the Sound to the Olympics are spectacular on a clear day, whether it's January or July. A big portion of the beach is sand before turning to small stones farther on. You can have fires on the beach, and there's a stream that is constantly being dammed by children. There's a concessions stand, restrooms, and volleyball courts, as well. Good for a family excursion, a solitary walk, or a picnic date.Recommended for:Outdoor Enthusiasts

Popular place for large meetup group gathers, runners, dogwalkers, family and even teens who want to get drunk around an evening bonfire. This 'park' which is a strip of sand along the water, is popular with all types, particularly on Seattle's gorgeous summer days. You can tune out the crowds and focus on the sheet beauty of the view if you like.

Here is a beach just outside the city passed Ballard and the Locks. There are hundreds of boats moored here and beyond that is the beach. You can cook out on the beach barbeques, swim, play games, or just lie out and catch some rays. It is a sweet little area that allows dogs on a leash or walk up to the off-leash park. It is worth a day on the beach in the city.

I am definitely a bit biased when it comes to Golden Gardens Park. To me this is "home" since I grew up in a home overlooking this park. It's a fun place to go as a family to walk, play, look for interesting shells and even fly a kite!
