I have been on for different events. Once for a college reunion and it is a great place to picnic, play sports, and drink adult beverages. Twice for concerts- its so big that its perfect for multiple stages and food venues. And once for a walk. Overall a very impressive park with a lot to do and a lot of greenery.

Golden Gate Park is the first place I ever heard 'dank buds' put together in a sentence. Counter-cultural catch phrases aside, if there's a more gorgeous park in San Francisco, I've yet to find it. If you tire of all the beautiful woodland surroundings, the people and dog watching will keep you entertained for hours even if you haven't partaken of any such 'dank buds.' Just off Haight and Ashbury.

We love Golden Gate Park as a budget destination, as the options are many. For free, check out the bison paddock, the windmills near Ocean Beach, or the Shakespeare Garden. If you don't mind the long lines, the Academy of Sciences hosts four free days a year for SF residents. The de Young and Conservatory of Flowers offer a monthly free admission day as well.

This park is a beautiful breath of fresh air in the middle of the city. It is filled with activity, and yet seems peaceful at the same time. Always worth a visit.

There are museums, bison, waterfalls, windmills, lakes, trails, gardens, statues, it borders the ocean, and it's completely accessible to anyone.
Foggy walks in the Golden Gate Park, with all its greenery, are (along with foggy walks along the bay) my favorite things about San Francisco.
This park is big, beautiful and there is tons to see and do.
