The Golden Nugget is the largest casino in the downtown area, and is just a short walk away from the areas of Fremont popular with the locals. It is also one of the oldest casinos in the city, having been built in 1946.

Ready to leave the Strip behind? Or just a fan of Vegas' funky Fremont Street? The Golden Nugget is hands-down the best casino hotel downtown. We've stayed there several times over the years, and rarely been disappointed by anything other than the long check-in lines, expensive in-room internet and a bad buffet & coffee shop. The brand-new Rush Tower rooms are super-sexy in a vintage Vegas way, and so are the equally luxe Gold Club rooms. Being right on the Fremont Street Experience lets you walk most places that you want to go downtown, and valet or self-parking are both easy. If you're a fan of retro Vegas, or just want to experience the shark-pool water slide, pick the Golden Nugget. Promotional emails and snail-mail coupons will get you the best rates usually.

This hotel is in the middle of Fremont St. and is close to everything. It's affordable without making you feel like you "got what you paid for". They have a pool with a slide that goes through a shark tank....that's right I said shark tank. If you are going to stay anywhere on Fremont St. this is the hotel to pick.

Loved, loved, loved the Golden Nugget!! It's such a pretty and nice hotel inside, also they have a good casino, Starbucks, good food, good drink specials and a beautiful pool with a shark tank in it! The service was excellent and I'm planning on staying here again.

This is one of the nicer properties on Freemont Street. The coffee shop is one of the downtown power lunch places in Las Vegas (My review coming shortly). The pool is very cool, only in Las Vegas will you find a shark tank next to tourists getting tan in the glorious Las Vegas sun. Stop by and check it out. Live it up, you are in Las Vegas for cryin’ out loud!

Best hotel on Fremont St. The Rush Tower has the best rooms I've ever stayed in. Their pool is hands down the best especially the adults only on the roof.

This was and still is the luxury Hotel of the Downtown was once own by Steve Wynn. You must go in and see what luxury is verse the other downtown town hotels. This hotel is one of the launching points for Freemont Experience.

A whole lot better since the remodel. It's nice, clean, and more fancy than most of the hotels & casinos in downtown on Fremont Street. Ever visit, I see the sharks at the shark tank which is at the pool. Has a water slide that goes through the tank!

I did and upgraded room and totally worth it. Room was huge and nicely appointed with the renovation. There's easy access to all fun things on freemont. Hotel has great food and some elegant old school glamour that the new places lack. I'm a big fan and will return on the next trip for sure.

Very cool grotto pool hidden in the back of the hotel. There is a slide that goes through the middle of the shark tank.

We usually stay here when we stay in the downtown area. Though I wish they gave free comp rooms like Harrah's they are still good so we stay once a year. Pool is great and the service is fantastic. Lots of good places to eat and drink and gamble. Rooms are decent and good size.

It's a cold, old hotel in downtown Las Vegas so if you wanna hang out on the strip, you will want a car, or be okay taking the bus or cab back and forth because after a day of being on Fremont st., you're going to want to get the hell out of there. They have Hawaiian style food for breakfast at California hotel nearby and the ladies are mostly old school here. A little too much smoke though.

over in downtown vegas. This place is worth checking out if only because the pool has a slide that goes through a shark tank. Its for patrons only but its pretty easy to find cool people who will pretend you are part of their group.

A good value for visitors looking for a nicer downtown Las Vegas hotel. Casino floor was less smoky than other neighboring casinos and the hotel seemed family-friendly. Carson Tower room had the cheapest room and for good reason. We felt the ambiance and comfort in this tower was lacking. We even had trouble with door access during our stay (we were locked out and maintenance had to replace the entire door lock mechanism). I wouldn't stay in this tower again. I recommend booking a recently renovated Rush Tower room for a little more per night. The highlight of our stay was the pool area: The Hideout and the tank pool's three-story waterslide. Our room rate also came with complimentary buffet breakfast for two, which was decent, but be sure to plan your buffet visit in advance as there was a line and we barely made the 10:30AM breakfast buffet rate cutoff. Free covered garage parking, too.

This hotel is known to have one of the best pools in Las Vegas. Because it's in downtown, a lot of people don't consider it but it's one of the best place to stay for the value and it's fun to stay in downtown!

One of the older casinos, not as impressive as all of the new ones. Also, pretty depressing. Tons of senior citizens staring at slot machines, smoking cigarettes, and putting coin after coin into the machines like zombies. Didn't seem like they were really having fun, just repeating their mechanical motions. Weird.

It is not on the Strip, it is the one that I ALWAYS stay at..I try to go once a year and I alwasy stay here..They ususally cater to the middle or older aged person, but it is a really Clean and Classy place..Then I will take a taxi to anything that I want to go to see on the strip..Rooms are usually about $ 65 night...

This is so much better than staying in busy Las Vegas. I love Fremont street and this hotel is the best bargain in Vegas. Beautiful, luxurious rooms and pool area.
