My very first Warriors game was back in the mid-1980s when I occasionally got court-side seats, thanks to a co-worker whose husband was one of the scorekeepers. Then in the 1990s, my son's Mom worked for a Biotech start-up and great lower-level seats or a corporate box were sometimes available.
It's often hard to keep my son's attention regarding sports contests. I don't take him to baseball games anymore, as he almost immediately gets bored and wants to hit the souvenir stand by the 3rd inning. I've had a similar experience with Cal Football. On the other hand, he will gladly sit through an entire hockey game as the action is almost non stop and moving in all sorts of directions and speeds. As for this NBA contest, he was ready to go just after half time and to beat the outgoing crowds, we left a little bit early.
Earlier, as we were waiting in the Security line, the PA system was playing highlights from those great times when Chris Mullin, Mitch Richmond, Tim Hardaway, and Manute Bol were on the team and coached by a much more animated Don Nelson. And after you consider the Warrior's 1974-75 Championship, there hasn't been all that much to cheer about since. I put the most recent cause of that directly on the head of the current owners. And with the upcoming sale of the Team and hopefully to a certain competitive man who hates to lose, a better team (and stadium) should soon become a reality.
