Goldridge is located on a ridge up a road called Goldfields - easy to figure out why they picked that name. While it would be convenient from a writers perspective to say that I'd found gold or something, but sadly that isn't true. While there isn't technically anything wrong with this place - there isn't much to write home about. Sure it's clean and tidy and the staff is a friendly bunch - but the out of town location is a bit of a pain to get into the action and the identikit same-same generic you've seen it before rooms are great if you only plan on sleeping in them. If you've come to Queenstown to get the most out of town, burn the midnight oil, aren't too fussy and have your transport - you're golden. If not, keep panning.

Goldridge Resort bills itself as being “the place that you want to be at the end of the day” - if that’s 4km out of town in an average hotel room with a bunch of tour bus tourists, then go for gold – and gold is what you’ll be paying too. If you do choose to stay here it’s worth upgrading to a superior lake view room so you can at least enjoy uninterrupted views over the spacious grounds of the lake and mountains beyond. The bistro which is open for breakfast and dinner, does serve good quality, well priced fare but while the views are good the atmosphere is a bit lacking. The spa, with a large flat screen TV mounted on the wall, and two saunas looked quite nice but shared between 75 rooms you’re probably not going to have them to yourself. In short, you can probably do better for the price.
