I'm not sure there is actually anything notable in Goleta. Other than its proximity to Santa Barbara. I guess you could stay there if you didn't want to spend too much money for accommodations in Santa Barbara. It's pretty close

Really gorgeous beach with ample parking, feels private, not very crowded. Only bummer is there is lots of seaweed, but the water is very blue (go figure!) and the waves are relaxing.

Carpinteria has a beautiful beach. I didn't get to spend too much time there. When I do, I'll edit this review.

A great little town, Santa Ynez is in the heart of Santa Barbara Wine Country and is a lovely place to visit. Not as far from LA as Napa or Sonoma, Santa Ynez is easy to get to from LA and is lots of fun for a long weekend.

Sleepy beach town just south of Santa Barbara and north of Carpenteria. Small enough and quaint enough to enjoy it uninterrupted. The beach here is really clean and beautiful. The water is flat quite a bit, so it's good for stand up paddling. Great small spot on the California coast.

About 12 miles inland from Ventura, Ojai is the smallest town in Ventura County. It's known as a haven for musicians, artists and health enthusiasts. With a lot of small shops to browse through a visitor can also go to the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa for excellent meals.

A tiny little town in what I consider the heart of Santa Barbara wine country. It is central to all of the vineyards near Solvang and has several wine tasting rooms in the town itself. It's styled a little bit like a western town and you can walk the length of the town in less than five minutes if you ...

Buellton is a small town off of I-5 that is best known for being the location of Pea Soup Anderson's. There are a few gas stations, some fast food restaurants, and some motels.

On the Northern edge of Santa Barbara county is the quietly sprawling city of Santa Maria. Its population density rivals that of Santa Barbara, but somehow it has still been able to maintain a slower small town pace. Agriculture and cattle ranching are the main industries, with local wineries becoming increasingly popular. The town has many attributes, including an indoor ...
