The Grand Canal is the main waterway that leads through Venice. I think you can get the most beautiful view at Grand Canal from Rialto Bridge, when it's getting dark and they turn on the lights. It's beautiful, like on a postcard!

The Grand Canal is a busy busy throughway right through the central of Venice. Watching it in action with boats with goods and gondolas traversing is quite an amazing experience.

As transport in Venice is only done through water, Grand Canal is the city's major water-traffic corridor. Public transportation is provided by the vaporetti (very expensive for non-locals, 7 euro one trip) and private water taxis, as well as the famous gondolas for tourists. For those traveling to other cities close to Venice, lookout for Santa Lucia railway station at one of the ends of the canal.

The Grand Canal is the widest waterway in the city. It's crossed by three bridges, the most famous of which is the Rialto. There are also small gondola ferries that will take you across for a few Euro. The best way to get oriented, if you're coming in from the train station, is to take the Vaporetto all the way to San Marco. The reality of Venetian splendor will kick in very quickly.

Venice was my favorite city Italy. I adored riding in gondolas and water taxis. The city in the water captured my heart and I found it lovely and romantic. Can't wait to go back.

It is the main channel of Venice and for sure the most elegant and interesting to see. Some of the most important buildings of the cities are just on Grand Canal. The best way to " visit" it taking some pictures is surely by boat. So, if you don't want to spend too much money for a gondola trip you could take a vaporetto, the public service.

Reaching the Grand Canal is like stepping into a postcard. Best viewed from the Rialto Bridge or a traghetto ride across.

It's the stuff of dreams, the Grand Canal. I'm happy to report that it's as magical in person (more, even) than in the photos and films. One of my favorite memories of Venice was sitting alongside the Canal while watching the boats go by. As the sun sets and the lights turn on, it's an unforgettable sight.
