This is a place I would have never expected to find in LA. Basically a giant European style market hall with fruit and veggie stands mixed with food vendors. I've had the biggest lamb tacos in my life here (from the Mexican place near the wedt entrance).

I'm lucky to spend part of my year in the culturally diverse city of L.A. In the historic downtown district lies one of the oldest food markets in the U.S. 38 food merchants selling fruits, vegis, herbs, nuts, chillis, and food stahls serving everything from tasty Kebobs to heavy portions of Chow Mein, to meat packed, Tortas, Cuban Sandwiches. Take a step back in time in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. I must visit for any food lover. Located between South Broadway and South Hill Streets at 4th Street. If you love food markets, this is one of the best in the world.

I have fond memories of the Grand Central Market. As a kid, I would visit often with my grandparents. We'd take three RTD buses just to get to Grand Central. We'd come in for Mexican or Chinese food just before venturing off to the Million Dollar Theatre to catch a show. It was a wonderful outing. I used to love walking on the sawdust lined floors inside the market and loved kicking up the sawdust with my feet.

Ahhhhh! I remember the beautifully colored fruits and vegetables inside the market, and all the scented fruit. I some times get nostalgic and visit the market on weekends. I visit the taqueria and burrito stand and order an authentic Mexican chile rejano taco or carnita burritos with horchata. I love this market.
