This hotel has some history and prestige, neoclassical marble décor, and a lobby filled with trees and live classical music. The music is a nice touch. The Erwan shrine is just on the corner and has an interesting story that’s connected to the hotel’s past: http://www.heartofbangkok.com/en/shrine_main.aspx Right now (July 2012) they’re undergoing construction on some of the floors but are compensating guests for the inconvenience. I liked the little spa cottages near the pool. It’s incredible to see these petite pool houses up at about sky train height. And on the same floor there are beautiful men’s and women’s baths with Jacuzzis, showers with soap that smells like lemon grass, dry saunas and wet saunas, cold drinking water, massage chairs, and in the women’s bath any way, marble toped tables to sit down at and get ready. On the west side rooms have a view of the Bangkok Royal Sports Club racetrack.Recommended for:

Walking into the lobby of the Hyatt your ears are greeting by live classical music and bubbling water features. There are glass ceilings in some parts so they really take advantage of the use of natural lighting which gives the place a more open and expansive feeling. It certainly does make an impression. When we were there they were currently renovating some of the floors. They are trying to be as convenient as possible so construction is from 10 to 4, when most people are out. So there is a special offer, when you take the deluxe suite you get a one hour massage, wifi, breakfast and a complimentary drink at the bar. The baths are amazing too. There is a hot and cold water bath and a sauna and steam room. I was particularly impressed by the sauna and the jets in the bath. There are also complimentary toiletries for before and after your bathing experience. You walk out feeling great.

It is located strategically near the mall (there is a connecting bridge to go to the mall). It feels more crowded compared to the rest of the hotels, perhaps because of its strategic location.
