If you're headed to Kauai, consider staying in sunny Poipu at this stand-alone resort on the island's south shore. I'm not normally a fan of chain hotels, but I always recommend this resort to friends who are visiting Kauai and want a beach resort that's more laid-back than the hoity-toity Princeville scene. Open-air hallways, eco-green volunteering activities, Hawaiian cultural classes and an ocean-view terrace bar with live Hawaiian music and local hula troupes make you really feel like you're living in the islands.

Our family absolutely loved this place. Pricey, but great for the kids.
We went up to Princeville, was not impressed with the hotels there. But Hanalei Bay was like a beach in heaven. Definitely worth spending time there. There isn't much to "do" in Poipu except the beach, so you should feel comfortable spending time at the resort.Recommended for:Family Travelers

Just a short walk on the greenbelt. This is a beautiful resort hotel to enjoy.
Check out their Anara Spa for a massage of relaxation day. Library bar is terrific for a cold beer or sushi. Evening lanai hula show on Sat nights is the best.
Morning coffee on grand lanai. Open to the public and trully lovely!

A very nice and spacious resort. If you ask people who know about this place or have been here, most will tell you about their pools. There are lots of pools! The views from the pools, terrace, restaurants and certain rooms are beautiful.
Service is also very nice. Most people will greet you with a smile. They clean your room in the afternoon and tidy up again in the evening with some chocolate left on the bed.
My only complaint is that check-in can be very slow. Don't think that you can get in early, get lucky and have a room make quickly available. In hindsight, coming into Lihue in the afternoon would be more ideal.

This resort is unbelievably amazing. My husband and I walked through the entrance and we were just blown away. When we checked in we were automatically upgraded to an ocean view room at no additional cost when I had just booked a garden view room at a discount rate. They also sent up a bottle of champagne to our room, and because my birthday was just a few days before we checked in, they also sent up a basket of full size snacks for us to munch on the entire time, and again this was all complimentary. The several pools they have are incredible and I cannot do it justice enough to describe it, it definitely needs to be experienced. The also have beautiful parrots out every morning and my husband was able to take a picture with one of them on his arm. There is a beatiful golf course on the property to enjoy and also an amazing hike right behind the hotel that takes you along the cliffs of several beaches and right directly into the shoreline of the last beach. We will make sure we return, and after seeing a lot of Kauai, this is most definitely the best resort to stay at on the island. You will never want to leave!!

Best hotel for your money. We used the AAA rate with breakfast buffet included. I got a sage blue cheese omelet every morning.. yum!
We weren't able to get a dinner reservation our 2nd night here and the Thai restaurant that delivers was closed (strange). The front desk commented that they were 100% sold out and all the staff seemed a little stressed. We finally found one of the restaurants did take out and ate on the beach, much better then a crowded restaurant.
The staff is amazing, all the food was incredible and the cabanas on the beach are awesome (complimentary for 1 day if you are on your honeymoon). Definitely would stay here again but it's a tad far from the activities on the other side of the island.
