I *live* in Seoul and even I enjoy going up to the Hyatt from time to time. Its views of Namsan Mountain and Tower are unparalleled. The entire space has a tastefully romantic atmosphere that is not often found in Seoul. The decorative theme of the grand lobby is stone and jade: the smooth stone floors and walls, as well as the stone sculptures placed throughout paired with jade green accents seem to mimic the surrounding wooded, mountain backdrop. The hotel co-exists harmoniously with the natural setting it sits upon. As soon as you enter, you’re treated to the smooth music of a live band that seems to always be there. The lobby successfully creates a perfect balance of being busy and peaceful at the same time. The theme of elegant nature spreads through the hotel like vines. The hallways have soft, chic lighting and wall plants, that, when teemed with a series of strategically placed mirrors, seem to go on forever. The guest rooms are equally elegant and peaceful with crisp white linens, flaxen wood furnishings and grey accent pieces. On top of all that, the English-speaking staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Plus there’s a luxury shuttle bus that leaves directly from the Hyatt and goes to and from Incheon Airport for 15,000 won. There’s an uncommon elegance, serenity and a natural ambiance here that makes this Hyatt a special place.

I always feel like I’m really treating myself when I go to the Hyatt Hotel. Green views and its open-air pool make it easy to forget you’re in the centre of Seoul. Their buffet style brunch is amazing and has platefuls of things for all dietary requirements. Get them to rustle you up an omlette with fillings or your choice or try out the selection of delicious breads.

This hotel is a favorite among both American and Asian travelers to the South Korean capital thanks to a great location in Itaewon perched on the hillside of Namsan above the city with fabulous views of Gangnam and the Han River. It has eight restaurants, a huge spa and fitness center, two club lounges and even a karaoke bar.

That said, the decor all feels like it hasn't been redone since the mid-1990's and rooms are tiny with just queen-size beds and very space-conscious bathrooms. The beds were also almost comically hard, so if you need a little softness to sleep, request a mattress topper when you check in.

All in all, though, it was a great location for seeing the city sights, and the $220 nightly rate was decent.

I just love me a good Hyatt. Attention to detail, impeccable and warm service, and a trio of gorgeous, gown-clad Jazz singers to welcome you in the lobby, are just a handful of reasons why a stay at the Grand Hyatt are worth every penny.
Perched atop a high hill with spectacular views of the city, the Grand Hyatt leaves you close to the nightlife, fantastic restaurants, and shopping of Itaewon, but tucked far enough away to offer a peace and tranquility not often found in the city. Coupled with it's close proximity to the lovely hiking trails of Namsan Mountain, the Hyatt truly offers the best of both worlds.
The loveliness of the rooms is hinted at as soon as you step out of the elevator and walk down the mirrored hallways, alight with a soft, golden glow, the reflective surfaces perfectly balanced to create the illusion of an endless space. The decor of the rooms hits the mark of modern luxury aesthetic perfectly- crisp yet warm, elegant but understated, with unique, eclectic touches to round out the edges.
With 12 restaurants and bars on site to choose from, spa, pool, fitness centre, and even a skating rink, there is plenty to keep you occupied and happy without stepping foot out of the hotel. Seoul is far to exciting a city to spend your time here holed up in your room, but it's nice to know that an oasis of comfort awaits you for those days when the travel blues hit and all you need is a little rest and relaxation. The Hyatt would certainly make for a fantastic home away from home.

Great hotel adjacent to Seoul Tower and the international district of Itaewon.
