No longer the highest hotel in the world but still quite impressive from the very moment you enter the lobby. Rooms are modern with Chinese-influence and have fantastic views. The location is a little inconvenient for tourists but works well if you have business on this side of the river.

The Grand Hyatt in Shanghai is impressive for its skyline view. I suggest coming here at night when you the skyscraper outline of the city lit up. The interior of the building is interesting as well due to its seemingly never ending series of spiral floors ascending up to the highest (88th) floors.

This hotel was the first hotel in a megastructure (has now been passed by the Finance Tower) and certainly has great views. Rooms, breakfast, service and amenities are all five star, but the flow of people passing through the lobby to reach Cloud 9 bar on the 87th floor is a drawback, as is the immediate surroundings at ground level.

This is a very good hotel with excellent basic rooms. The bathroom is very luxurious in particular. Not the best hotel if you don't like heights. Reception is on the 56th floor! Absolutely panoramic views, especially from the restaurant(s) - the cafe for breakfast is on Level 56 and there's a very refined Chinese restaurant, Canton on Level 55. If you're out and about in Shanghai at night, make sure you get your venue to book you a return taxi, especially if you're over the other side of the river. Staff here were excellent and command of English was very good.

One of the nicest lobby's and buildings I have ever seen in Shanghai. Everything just had that ridiculously luxurious feel to it...like something out of a movie. The service was exceptionally quick and efficient.

When the Grand Hyatt Shanghai was first opened, it was the highest hotel in the world as the building it is located, the JingMao Building, was the tallest building in the world. Very soon this title has been taken by others. The fact that this a first class hotel with a world class view to match does not change.
As an atrium hotel, all rooms at the GH SH face outside meaning the corridor face inside. If you have vertigo, walk along the doors! The glass bullet elevators that take guests from the lobby to various room floors are just perfectly "thrilling". Rooms are very poshly decorated. Service is fantastic. The restaurants offer good food, good service, and awesome views.
My fondest memory of this hotel is the high speed elevator that takes guests from the ground floor to the lobby level in 1 minute for the very first time when highest hotels were still a novelty. It was eye-opening and ears-popping fun!

Definitely made my top three list, and here is why: Grand lounge, grand lobby, grand rooms, grand restaurant, and yes, grand price.
Situated between the 57th and 87th floor sits the Grand Hyatt. At that height, you are just about guaranteed a grand view, no matter which way you look. Rooms are bigger than your normal ones, but there are two things in the room that set this one apart from others – the high tech lightning system and the bathroom. Yes, the bathroom. Words will not do the bathroom justice, but let’s just say that if I had a bathroom like that at home, I would spend most of my time in there. Impeccable service with a reputation and price to match.
For those with vertigo, I warn you…do not look down from the hallway to the patio court below. You’ve been warned!
