The Grand Mercure Roxy is a big hotel in the east part of Singapore. The hotel looks plain from the outside and the rooms are homey with comfy beds, TV, a little seating area, and free WiFi.
The benefit of being away from downtown is that the rooms are more spacious here even though rates are lower. It’s an especially good value for families since they provide an extra cot for children for no extra charge (most hotels in Singapore don’t!).
The pool area is quite nice with lounge chairs and an outdoor cafe/bar with big discounts during happy hour. As the other reviewer mentioned the main reason to stay here is the free shuttle bus to Changi Airport, but there’s also a free shuttle to the nearest subway station and to downtown. That definitely helps make up for its awkward location.
The hotel restaurants are expensive for what you get, so try eating at one of the simple cafes on Joo Chiat Road (a 5 min. walk) or at the mall across the street instead.

The Grand Roxy Mercure Hotel is a huge hotel located nicely in the east of Singapore and is a convenient stop from the airport. Rooms here are comfortable and a little luxurious with nice fluffy beds, air conditioning, LCD TV and so on. They have a pretty neat pool area with an outdoor cafe and bar that is nice for those who are looking to relax on their trip here. Although the Hotel is a little far off from the main city area, there are lots of little local restaurants nearby. It is located in the nice East Coast Road/Joo Chiat/Katong area where it is more or less good quality food paradise in Singapore! Parkway Parade, a major shopping centre is right across the hotel. If you are looking to spend some time on the beach, the Grand Roxy Mercure Hotel also is not that far away from it with buses going there. They provide free shuttles to the airport which really helps you save money.

The only reason to stay here would be if you're on stopover in Singapore and just staying for the night.
The best thing about the hotel is that it's an easy 15 minutes from the airport, and there is a free, 24hr shuttle bus that runs from the hotel to the airport, and vice versa.
Location isn't ideal otherwise-- it's not centrally located and quite far from the usual sights of Chinatown, Orchard Rd, etc. There is an MRT nearby and by taxi it's about $12- $15 to get down to the CBD.
The hotel itself is pretty standard- nice lobby, spacious and clean room, and decently friendly staff. We arrived past midnight and left the next morning, so didn't get to see a whole lot, but the hotel served it's purpose well. Parkway Parade Mall is an easy walk to get to and has plenty of options for eating (lots of restaurants and a pretty good food court) as well as shopping.
Recommended if you need to be close to the airport, otherwise stay somewhere closer to town.
