We explored Granville Island on a Sunday morning and wish we had allocated more time here, there is just so much to see and so much to do. Located in the False Creek region across from downtown Vancouver, the island boasts its own atmosphere and flavor. Formerly an industrial area, the historical reminisce of its past is still visible in its architecture layout and design. Today, the Granville Island is a congregation center for arts and crafts, performance arts and theaters. The famous Granville Public Market is a popular attraction on the island, it has endless aisles of vendors selling fresh produce, bakery, tea and even handmade crafts of sorts. Along the streets of Granville island, there are many boutiques and arts and crafts stores selling unique creations by local artists; street performances with all sorts of interesting instruments can be found at random open spaces on the island (they are really very good); performance festivals, theaters and schools can also be found here. A truly wonderful place to embrace art and support local performers.

I've been here twice now and my favorite stop is at the Granville Island Public Market for some good eats. Parking can be tough to find on the weekends, so be patient driving around to the different lots. Granville Island is fun for the whole family! Just beware of those aggressive sea gulls. They are nasty and will dive in to eat any food you accidentally drop on the ground.

Granville Island is a former industrial area now transformed into a centre of arts, theatre and food in Vancouver. This small "island" houses Granville Island Public Market (a rival to Pike Place market), several small theatres, a few restaurants, a brewery and a ton of independent craft and artisan boutiques. Wonderful place to spend time on the weekend!

Granville Island is a peninsula and shopping district in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is located across False Creek from Downtown Vancouver, under the south end of the Granville Street Bridge. This is a great place to spend an afternoon just walking around. Nice place to live if you can afford it.

Yes it's touristy, but you do a get lovely view of False Creek and arguable Vancouver's best food market & toy store. Granville Island is a great place to enjoy westcoast cooking & for the kids to play and browse.

Okay, so I come Northern California, a place for natural and healthy foods. Also a place known for artists and creative people. Granville island is a perfect place for some who is into the same. There is a lot to do here, from shops of artisans, crafts and just good food. There are some good photographic opportunities here as well. There are plenty of buses that can get you here, literally.

There is so much to do on Granville Island. There's the Public Market but also lots of shops with crafts, clothes, household items, water activity related supplies and some good restaurants.

You can get there by car but parking is difficult. Try taking the water taxi.

Great day trip in Vancouver, just a few minutes by bus or car to one of the best markets in the world. First class produce, flowers, buskers, galleries, water tours, views and more. One of Vancouver's top tourist destinations spots also popular with most locals. A must see.

Because this was the "tourist" spot to go to, my parents wanted to check this place out during our visit to Vancouver. It definitely was a very pretty and pleasing to the eye place to visit, especially going under that big archway that says "Granville Island." There are a lot of parking spots, but it seems like this place is always so busy that it's by luck or chance whether or not you will get a spot.

Lots of small, but cute stores that sell trinkets and souvenirs. They're also working on a water amusement park or some sort? Anyway, it seems like most people come here to check out the farmer's market or to stop by and get a bite to eat. After exiting the market, you can sit by the water and relax, listen to the performers singing, look at the dogs, birds ...

There are lots of very romantic spots (weeping willow trees with mini lakes, etc) that are perfect for photo ops. And there is also a water park in the middle, but I think when I went, it was closed down. Lots of play areas for children in the most random of places. My sister and I found a giant see-saw by the art school as well as a swing set. Yep, we spent like half an hour playing despite us being so big.

There's a whole kid's place building with stuffed animals, a play place for children where birthday parties can take place, a post office, stationery shop, costume shop ... really a lot for children. Also a senior center for activities to take place. Definitely a great place to take walks, look around, especially if you are into the tourist-y spots.

For me, I really liked the views that Granville provided for me. Don't know if I'd go back just because of the parking. I did find it odd that there's an art school campus in the middle of Granville.

Granville Island is mostly known for their market which serves a fantastic selection of fresh produce and vegetables, so make sure you bring a big appetite and your camera so you can take awesome pictures.

Jump on a small tug ferry and for a few dollars go shopping at Granville Island, enjoy lunch or dinner or sit on one of the many decks and enjoy a cool drink, take in a play or enjoy some live theatre. Cross the harbour to Beach Avenue and walk to Stanley Park or into the downtown core, or just sit and relax in the park. Great area for kids.

Stroll through the lively market, browse boutiques or picnic with the pigeons on Granville Island, one of the most popular spots in Vancouver. Beyond the market, there are enough boutiques, restaurants and little galleries to make winding through the picturesque lanes worthwhile.

Take the ferry over to the Island. Plan to have lunch and feed the seagulls. Sit at one of the outdoor restaurants and have a glass of wine. Watch the books go by. Buy flowers.
