Reward yourself for being an early riser and catch a matinee at one of the iconic old Hollywood theaters around the corner -- The El Capitan, Grauman's Chinese Theatre or The Egyptian. Yes, you've surely driven by these movie houses on boring, obligatory tours for sightseeing out-of-towners, but oozing with Hollywood history and renovated with state-of-the-art technical overhauls, they truly are some of the best places to catch a flick, not just in LA, but anywhere.

This place has a lot of history! They do have tours though I've never taken it. But once you get in you will see quite a bit of old movie props. The theater itself is gorgeous. I've been to a few red carpet movie premieres here and the location is so appropriate. There has been so many premieres here over the years so it's a special feeling to be inside during one.
Right outside the theater are the famous hand and shoe prints. There are so many tourists there at all hours of the day but it's worth seeing once. I've seen it about 30 times and never get sick of it.

I grew up in LA but had never come here (go figure) until I was invited to a movie premier. And, yes, as you could imagine, going to a movie premier at Grauman's Chinese is pretty frickin' cool. :) In the theatre's off-hours, it's well worth a visit. Decades of Hollywood history hang over the theatre, and rows of Hollywood's famous feet and hands grace its sidewalks.

my first time to this theater was quite a memorable one to say the least. any trip to hollywood has got to include a view of this place. so many great celebrities from our past are part of this place and i walked all over them. i got my picture with the prints of marilyn monroe and jane mansfield so i'm all set.
my ex girlfriend really wanted to see a movie here as well so we ended up seeing titanic of course. well to make it short unlike this movie right when the best part for any guy is happening the film reel breaks. oh great! we ended up getting a refund and headed to burbank for some bob's big boy love.
well we got home and of course she had to drag me to sit through titanic again. this is one blockbuster i am not a fan of after all that! :)
the theater is a place to see for sure. the history alone makes up for any movie you will see there.

This is as touristy as touristy gets!
I liked the theatre for what it is a historical part of Hollywood.
What I didn't like was the cheese factor.
There are imitation Marilyn Monroes and Elvis Presley's everywhere along with any other character you can think of.
It was all too overwhelming.

This is for the outside area...
I'm all for the handprints and footprints. It's really cool to see the stars that worked so hard to become noticed like jean Simmons, Natalie Wood, Frank Sinatra, Peter O'Toole, Harrison Ford, Michael Jackson, Matt Damon... and then I noticed... The three stars of Twilight?!?!?! WTF. Really?!?! Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson?!?! REALLY??! How low are you going Sid?
So many talented actors and actresses and you allow the cast of Twilight?! That's like a slap in the face for actors/actresses everywhere. I'm not saying they are bad actors or actresses but just because they have a series of movies doesn't mean they deserve to have their hands/feet marked in the ground and of all places, right next to the KING OF POP. Really?
If you are going to do a popular series then at least great actors need to get it MORE than Twilight people- Christian Bale (Batman series and oh yeah, he won an Oscar!), Jennifer Lawrence (Hunger Games series and yes, she was NOMINATED for an Oscar), Noomi Rapace (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series and is a pretty good actress), Rooney Mara (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series and NOMINATED), and WTF... no Daniel Craig?!?!
This made me upset because this is history. :/
Anyways... nice tourist spot. Lots of Hollywood characters with crappy costumes... some are cool, some are really bad.
Overall... tourist spot.
