Miami Hotel Insider
Nestled on the Atlantic Coast near the Everglades on the southeastern tip of Florida, the greater metropolitan area of Miami is a major economic and cultural center, as well as a hub for tourism and a springboard to Latin America. Known for its leadership in finance and trade as ... read more
much as for its vibrant cultural offerings, here you'll find one of the largest concentrations of international banks in the U.S. as well as a highly diverse population contributing some of the nation's most colorful art, music, fashion, dance, theater and entertainment experiences. There's a truly Latin flavor about town (Miami is the largest U.S. city with a Spanish-speaking majority and has a large Cuban population). And with warm weather and sunshine almost year-round, Miami’s beaches are often among the top-rated worldwide, ensuring the area enjoys a bevy of heat-seeking visitors annually and remains a favorite of winter travellers year after year.

Miami Hotels
For many, a Miami vacation often evokes images of sunny South Beach, the southernmost section of larger Miami Beach. Filled with celebrities and sun-worshipers, this area is famous not only for its pristine beach, but also for the excellent shopping, a treasure trove of Art Deco charm centered around Ocean Avenue, and its notorious party atmosphere including everything from open-air rooftop lounges to pumping all-night dance clubs. And, of course, the numerous Miami Beach hotels, such as the W South Beach, the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, and The Delano. The beautiful waterfront views available at these South Beach hotel options keep beach lovers enticed while party-goers love the easy access to some of the hottest nightlife in the City. Moving a little farther south into Biscayne Bay, you'll find the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Spa, an elegant Miami hotel featuring beach and poolside cabanas, a complete wellness and fitness center, a 20,000-square foot Spa and Salon, and well appointed guestrooms or full suites. Downtown Miami lies on the eastern side of the municipality and offers its own wealth of deluxe properties, such as the business and family-friendly JW Marriott Marquis and the Hyatt Regency Miami. And just south of here is the desirable Brickell neighborhood (known as the "Manhattan of the South") where you'll find options such as the Conrad Miami and Four Seasons Miami. The greater Miami area is set up to accommodate all styles of travel, with familiar names like the Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Marriott cropping up around the city. For those with a preference for local flare, there are also a variety of boutique properties offering an interesting alternative to the typical chain hotel experience. Near Miami Beach, options such the South Seas Hotel, Nassau Suite Hotel or the Beacon South Beach capture the attention of those looking for comfort and convenience, while those headed downtown will find the modern elegance of the Casa Moderna Miami Hotel & Spa a welcome addition to the scene sure to impress business travelers and vacationers alike.

Hotel Neighborhoods
From parasailing and boat rentals to deep-sea fishing excursions and windsurfing, there’s an endless list of things to do while staying close to the beaches of Miami. South Beach is of course the most well-known portion of Miami Beach, with its celebrities, posh eateries and bikini-clad crowds. Cruise Ocean Drive to discover Miami's Art Deco District featuring such architectural wonders as the lavishly designed Versace Mansion. Then stick around after sunset to see South Beach transform into the center of the party. Ocean Drive is home to popular nightspots like Mansion, Set Nightclub and Purdy Lounge, to name just a few. For families and visitors looking for a slower pace, or just a different side of Miami, there is no shortage of entertainment in either. If you want to get away from the masses in South Beach, consider going a little farther north. The North Shore Open Space Park is still located on Miami Beach near restaurants and cafes, but here you'll find more greenery and plenty of open space to enjoy. Alternatively, just south of Miami Beach lies the island of Key Biscayne . Along the northern end, you'll be pleased to discover Crandon Park Beach, a picturesque family-friendly beach option offering cabana rentals, picnic tables, and a nature center. On Key Biscayne’s southern tip lives the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, known for its lighthouse -- the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County -- and a very popular destination for families, picnickers and fisherman. Despite the park's seemingly isolated location, it's actually just minutes away from the Ritz-Carlton in Key Biscayne. Another fun outing can be a visit to the beautiful Vizcaya Museums and Gardens in Coconut Grove. Pack a picnic or just head over to walk and spend the afternoon enjoying the views. Parents will be pleased to discover the numerous wildlife experiences available, including the Miami Seaquarium, Jungle Island, and the Miami Metro Zoo. Art lovers on the other hand will be interested to know Miami plays host to a premier international art show for modern and contemporary works each year. Typically held in early December, the weeklong event, known as Art Basel, features galleries and special exhibitions and events stretching the entirety of the city. Visitors will also find music, festivals and other special events hosted in Miami’s Bayfront Park. Be sure to check the calendar!

Housed in the former Versace Mansion, the Villa by Barton G prides itself on being Miami's most luxurious hotel and venue, and it really is. Upon passing by the throngs of hobby photographers and reaching the famous gates of the mansion, the often-gaudy glitz of Miami Beach fades away into a serene sanctuary of opulence. Suddenly, Ocean Drive is a ...

This is the hotel to stay in on Ocean Drive. Here’s something Miami Beach desperately needed—a Kimpton hotel. I’m a fan of Kimptons across the country because they have their own identity but always feel laidback. Plus, they’re super pet-friendly and if you join the Kimpton loyalty program (which is free), you get complimentary WiFi. This Kimpton combines a beachfront location, fun pool scene (including cabanas if you’re feeling fancy) ...

Would love to love this place, but walked away simply liking it.
