    Panathenaic Stadium

    4.5
    32 reviews

The Panathenaic Stadium or Panathinaiko was another stop on the Athen tour. We got off the bus for long enough to admire from one end that athletic stadium that hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Reconstructed from the remains of an ancient Greek stadium, the Panathenaic is the only major stadium in the world built entirely of white ...

    Ancient Agora

    4
    26 reviews

I was underwhelmed by the Agora. Maybe it was the heat. Maybe it was the fact that not everything is clearly labeled so you're not quite sure what's just piles of rocks and what is significant piles of rocks. I don't think I would have missed much if I had not gone. Perhaps it's better with a guide who can ...

    Temple of Hephaestus

    4.5
    22 reviews

Actually a ruin inside the Agora complex, the temple is much better preserved than the rest of the area which is definitely ruined. Nothing terribly exciting though. In fact, more people were taking pictures of the lawn of tortoises right next to it rather than the temple.

    Little Venice

    4.5
    19 reviews

Little Venice probably appears in some of the most famous shots of Mykonos. It is gorgeous, especially at sunset. The evening waves turn golden and gently kiss the bank, splashing water on people who sit along the edge. There are tons of restaurants and bars at Little Venice and they all have lovely outdoor seating areas. Since it is the ...

This is a walking city, with wonderous art housed within every historic monument. Ceramic and tile work everywhere, dating back to ancient times, is ubiquitous and amazing. The local people are very friendly, talkative, inquisitive about western Europe and the U.S. They are fast to answer questions, always helpful and smiling. Eat the local food and see why these folks ...

Beautiful mosaic floors brought from an archeological site in Italy are the backdrop to this "Italian style" medieval castle. Besides the many mosaics that were brought here from the site in Kos (Italy), there were many other pieces of art and sculpture that have been put on display. If you like art, it's definitely worth taking an hour or two ...
