I thought I'd seen some pretty amazing views of Los Angeles after all the hikes I'd been on, but the Griffith Observatory is now at the top of my list. You get a 360 degree view of the city next to an absolutely beautiful (make sure to bring your camera) building. The exhibits inside are informative and, best of all, free (except the planetarium shows), and you get to interact by touching pieces of meteorites, seeing how much you'd weigh on each planet, and more. Parking can be a bit of a feat, but there are people constantly coming and going, so if you drive to the top and circle around a few times you'll eventually get a spot.

What a lovely place to visit. Not only do you get a sweeping view of the LA basin, you can explore the observatory's exhibits and shows. You can find out your weight on various planets, look at a live view of the sun, and so much more. They have a fun gift shop with some pretty cool items too. If you go as it's getting dark, you can check out their telescopes and maybe spot a planet or other interesting celestial object. Oh - and it's FREE!

Breathtaking views and an observatory you can enter free of charge ! There's also an amazing hiking trail that snakes through the park. Come on weekdays to avoid crowds!

It offers a cool look at space with great exhibits and fascinating models inside. Then when you're done, step outside onto the observation deck and gasp at the sprawling megalopolis of Los Angeles before you. It's one of those great places that mix education with pleasure - even as a local, I still enjoy the experience!

Intergalactic planetary! yeah I guess the beastie boys were talken about this place!

My next review goes to an iconic Los Angeles place, Griffith Observatory!

This place is what I consider right with the world. A fantastic place for the young, old, middle aged, or anything else. We can all have fun here in this location of learning.

I especially like that it is 100% free to come here. If you decide to watch their short movie, you will pay a pittance to learn a bit about our solar system. Ohhh and did I mention lots and lots and lots of FREE parking! How rare is that in Los Angeles for a major tourist and locals attraction?

Pro Tip: Bring lunch with you and eat it on the roof while or at the railing edge looking out over all of Los Angeles.

Hell on a clear day you can see San Vicente and Catalina islands as well as OC and Venice. Inside the observatory you can see a ton of other awesome things: the output of several different telescopes as they capture various stuff. This is a very fun interactive way for the kids to learn and begin to explore our place in the physical universe.

The model room is crazy cool and has lots to offer anyone who goes to visit. Overall i cant name many places I would rather just go and chill at. You can see the Hollywood sign from here very easily as well as get pictures with it in the background.

The gift shop has some fun swag as well. They even had a kids school pack deal at the end of summer, eraser, pencil, water bottle, ruler, and something else for $4.99. it was kewl since the items alone had cost about double the deal price!

So if you have never been here, go back. If you have been here, go again! It is sooooooooooooo worthwhile!

Description:

The Griffith Observatory is a large museum on Los Angeles’ Mount Washington offering brilliant views of the city and multiple science and space related exhibitions. Built in the early 1930s, the Observatory has become an important LA landmark and has been featured in multiple movies and television programs. Exhibitions include active Tesla coils, a Foucault pendulum and a planetarium theatre. Recent renovations have transformed the building into the modern facility it deserves to be.
