Newly remodeled. It was closed for a long time for remodeling. It is 15 minutes away and their shows are great. Definitely see this.

Griffith Observatory is one my all time favorite places to go in LA. I've loved it since I was a kid. Free entrance, plenty of parking on top and a beautiful view, can't get any better then that. No... I take that back. They also have sky viewings and allow people to look through their larger telescopes on top. :) Love this place.

I never thought that I could enjoy such a visit as much as I did that very day and I believe a large reason for that is because of the company I was with. I absolutely loved the architecture of this observatory. It was designed so amazingly well with simplicity yet elegance. I loved standing in the back overlooking the LA building and streets. It really gives you a refreshing vibe when you feel as if you're standing on top of the world. I also love the exhibit of the solar system. They have this nifty plate in front of every solar system panel where you can stand on the scale to show how much you would weigh on the planet. I had a lot of fun exploring this area and realizing just how different it would be in each of these areas

I've been to the Griffith Observatory so many times, but I never get tired of it. I really like the atmosphere here. Although I must admit you don't get the best view of LA since there's so much smog, you still get a pretty decent view. I like just walking around the outside of the observatory and looking at views from different angles. The exhibits stay the same, so I don't visit them every time, but they're still really cool when I do actually check them out. I love taking random pictures here too!

One of my top 4 places in LA. Museum is ok, but the real treasures are the views. Hiking around Griffith Park are part of the package.

Many say the view from here is great, but that's IF there's not the infamous smog that comes often with this city. As for the Hollywood Sign - it is way too far from here for a great shot without a zoom lens; there's at least one other closer view of that elsewhere within Griffith Park. The facade of the observatory itself is pleasing to look at, but I can't rate the inside since I didn't venture within.

What a lovely place to visit. Not only do you get a sweeping view of the LA basin, you can explore the observatory's exhibits and shows. You can find out your weight on various planets, look at a live view of the sun, and so much more. They have a fun gift shop with some pretty cool items too. If you go as it's getting dark, you can check out their telescopes and maybe spot a planet or other interesting celestial object. Oh - and it's FREE!

See how many places of La you recognize from up top! Go here during the weekdays because weekends full up with caravans of families, narrow lanes and visitors from all over.

This place is beautiful. We visited towards the end of the day - giving us enough time to catch a show at the observatory and peak in at some if the telescopes before sunset. Sunset here is stunning. There's a fantastic view of LA and it surrounds and it was well worth the trip.

Whoa. I assumed I already reviewed this place because I've been a frequent visitor for the past 7+ years.

I love that entrance to the observatory is free. I also love space. So maybe I'm biased. :)

One of my favorite things to do is sit on the large roof top of the observatory. I love doing yoga here when it's not busy or people watching when it does get busy.

I actually love to come here. Its got a killer view worth seeing both in the daylight and at nighttime. I recommend going at sunset and seeing one of their $8 planetarium films. It makes for a great romantic and cheap date.

Like a castle overlooking Los Angeles, this amazing place deserves all the praise it gets. You get to learn a lot about the cosmos here, and more refined tastes can marvel at the art and architecture that went into such a fantastic location.

And the view simply can't be beat.

This is a great place to go hiking, check out the city of LA from up top, or check out the observatory exhibits. On nice days, grab a small picnic basket to enjoy on the lawn right outside the observatory.

Hands down. My favorite place in LA. One of my favorite places in the country!! This place has an amazing view of the greater LA area. Not to mention the planetarium and telescope inside! Also, there's a statue of James Dean near the parking lot.

One of the greatest views of the Los Angeles valley (if not the greatest view) to be had is right here. Most people who come here don't even go in and see the planetarium show but just walk around the grounds and take in the view. It's a great little getaway. During the weekdays, do beware of large school groups that come to the observatory.

One of my favorite places in LA. Breathtaking views. If you're in shape (and have an hour or two to spare), try walking to the top of the mountain for a full 360 degree view.

One of the most beautiful spots in LA. This is a fantastic facility with good museum exhibits and a planetarium show. But it's iconic position in Griffith Park, perched above downtown LA, is what really makes this place special. Lots of wow factor here.
