I've been coming to Griffith Park for many, many years now. I am still discovering new wonders each and every time. It's a great place to hike, run, hang out with the family, people watch, play golf, picnic, and photograph LA life. The vistas from the top of the hills are gorgeous and second to none. Yes, LA is a big city and we do have a lot of craziness to deal with on a daily basis. So why not come here once in a while to unwind and just soak in the view?

My go to spot when I need some air. The great thing about this place is you can drive up to the observatory or you can choose to hike up the trail. Once you're up there, you can do some people watching, do some yoga on the grass, check out the inside of the observatory or just enjoy the scenic view. And regardless of rain, fog or smog, the view is still pretty spectacular.

Nice, not too challenging hike from the observatory to a great viewpoint of all of LA, the Hollywood sign, and down to the observatory. You can continue hiking up a more challenging trail to get an even better view. On a really clear day, you can see the ocean and islands! We often try to get to the top around sunset, so that we can see all the city lights on the way down.

Beautiful Los Angeles city views along the Griffith Park trails. See the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory! Long, wide, challenging trails. Free parking was found along the roadways near the entrance of the park. Proper footwear recommended. Get family and friends together for a nice hike up historic Griffith Park!
Also check out the biking routes in the park.

Griffith Park has so many wonderful things stored inside it: the observatory, which is an absolute must at night; great hiking trails; the LA Zoo; the new Autry Farmer's Market; and even a few restaurants hidden in there. I love taking a tennis ball to the park and throwing it around with friends, and even acting like a little kid by climbing trees. Proof that Runyon isn't the be all-end all of hiking areas in LA!

This is one of my favourite spots in LA for escaping the oppressive smog cloaking the city. Drive up, park the car and have a picnic, followed by a stroll up to the observatory. A rare green oasis in a city otherwise dominated by freeways and honking car horns.
