Do yourself a favor and stop by Grom for a crazy good gelato! Their coconut with chocolate chips is something dreams are made of. The vanilla is also one of my favorites here, very simple with a natural, strong vanilla flavor. If you love espresso, get the coffee gelato. You can taste the quality and fresh ingredients here. There will be a line. Get in it. Eat. Repeat.

This global chain serves up consistently good product. I prefer mom and pops but these guys do a great job in a pinch.

Grom is definitely a notch above your run-of-the-mill (still delicious) italian gelato places. Drop by when you're visiting the Duomo, it's only about a block away!

Most people think Grom has the best gelator in Florence but I think there is much better gelato in Florence.

Probably the most famous gelateria in Florence. Due to its popularity, you can expect to wait in line on a nice (or Friday/Saturday) night in the summertime. Its notoriety isn't undue, though. I definitely found myself struggling not to come every day I spent in Florence. It's not that the gelato is so much better than the second best gelato I've ever had (no, this isn't the best I've had), there are just a lot of pretty bad gelato places in the area-- perhaps not surprising due to its proximity to the duomo. The only reason it's not totally overrun is that it's pretty hidden from sight. Tucked into a back alley on the side of the piazza, you won't find it if you aren't looking for it. I suggest you look for it.

Try the Affogato, and then please let me know if you do not return again in the same day for a second serving.

Excellent, modern gelateria that doesn't sacrifice quality for style.
