What's up, opulence? The JW Marriott Grosvenor House hotel is a well-appointed Mayfair establishment facing Hyde Park itself. A great place to stay as a first-time visitor to London, as you're a short walk from so many sights. Good service, good decor, good beds.

It's not the best five star hotel in London, but I have fond memories of the Grosvenor. It is a great historic hotel and deserves consideration on that basis alone. Sensitively restored. But you'd be better off spending this kind of cash elsewhere.

A fairly high end property on Park Lane - more for the older crowd than a hotel for the younger clientele. I used to go here every Sunday afternoon for High Tea with my great grandmother - its a bit of an institution. The place to go for English traditional tea.

The Grosvenor House is a Marriott Brand hotel set across from Hyde Park on the sophisticated district of Mayfair in central London. The property was originally contructed in 1929 to house the first trans-Atlantic passengers and has recently been renovated to become the beautiful and comfortable Grosvenor House Hotel. The 420 rooms are all relatively spacious, elegantly decorated, equipped with comfortable bedding, and include beautiful marble bathrooms. The restaurants & lounges onsite provide a blend of classic and modern ambiances with a variety of cuisines that are especially enjoyable. The ‘JW Steakhouse’ offers tantalizing American grilling; the 32oz Angus Rib Eye served on-the-bone along with the ‘Mint Julep’ cocktail served at the JW’s Bourbon Bar are certainly the attractions on the menu. While the ‘Library Restaurant’ offers modern flavors on a charming English library setting, the ‘Corrigan’s’ serves distinct international recipes on a contemporary ambiance. Good cocktails can be enjoyed at the stylish ‘Red and Bourbon Bars’, while breakfast and Afternoon Tea are served at the ‘Park Room and the Library’. The Fitness Center is well appointed; it is fully equipped with cardio and strength building equipment. That said, although the location is a great gateway to museums, landmarks, department stores, royal parks, fine restaurant and theaters, it is highly commercial, with many offices in converted houses and modern buildings, including major corporate headquarters, hedge fund offices, real estate businesses and several different embassy houses.
