It astounds me how a bed and breakfast can reside in a massive city such as Boston. The good folks at Gryphon House have figured out how to eliminate the big city feel by stepping foot in their doors. Luxurious, homely, and warming, Gryphon House is a getaway from the city that is only a few blocks away from Fenway Park. Each room has it’s own theme, my favorite being the cabin in the woods (because of the antique fireplace). Every room in the B&B contains large private bathrooms, A/C, fireplaces, minibars, and you could even watch a movie from the huge DVD collection in the lobby! For a quiet getaway in the city, look no further than Gryphon House.Recommended for:

This Back Bay brownstone seems mostly occupied by BU visitors and business people, but it was a great place for a vacation stay. Close to the T and short walk to Newbury Street. We had the North Tower room which had a kitchenette and a great view of the Charles River. Breakfast was modest but the staff was very helpful.Recommended for:

Tucked away on a side street near BU, the Gryphon House makes a great home base for family visits. But even if you aren't in any way affiliated with BU, the location's pretty central; the Kenmore T stop is just a short walk away, and even the walk over to Copley is doable. But I think the thing that really makes the Gryphon House stand out is just how spacious it is. There are a number of very charming guest houses and B&Bs in Boston, but it always tends to feel like you've got to sacrifice space and/or amenities for location and character. Not so at the Gryphon House! It really felt like I was stepping into a private mansion. And I love how each of the rooms has its own unique theme. Ask for a room on the riverside if you're looking for peace and quiet (it can get a bit loud on the streetside during the school year).Recommended for:
