As the capital of Guangdong (Canton) province, this is the place to get the best Cantonese food. The Cantonese are famous for its soups and dim sum, so be sure to try it while you're here.
Guangzhou is also home to perhaps the largest community of Africans in Asia. Nigerians and other African merchants come here to buy goods and sell them back in their home countries. Check out Canaan Market for some good African food and all the jeans you'll ever need.

This is a family city, and many of the places revolve around family activities. There are bars and restaurants like Beijing and Shanghai, but largely this city offers a lot of incredible food, local sites, the oldest Hindu temple in China, and great local markets. Stroll by the river to see the latest developments including the TV Tower, the Library, and the People's Art Museum.

Lived here for 6 months. There are a ton of things to do here. I personally got into climbing here. There is an outdoor climbing wall, as well as some legit outdoor climbing on Baiyun Shan - Baiyun mountain, which is conveniently located next to the metro stop. Brand new metro system just opened up, to take you faster to to those delicious dim sum palaces!
