Gyeongbokgung Palace

Wow, so big. You need half a day to explore it. Very beautiful palace surrounded by modern buildings. The Blue House is behind the palace, but you can only see armed guards. This is a must go in your Seoul trip!!

An attraction inside the famed Gyeongbok Palace, a casual museum with many sections, we visited the one that highlights the lifetime of a Korea person, our tour guide was very good and informative. Excellent stop inside the palace.

This has many treasures. I loved the artifacts but most of all what royal life looked like was my favorite. What was the best feature was the modern facilities and air conditioning.

    Taepyoungro 1-ga 31, Seoul, 11 South Korea
    0.91 mi from Gyeongbokgung Palace

The entire City Hall area has just undergone a renovation and the new building looks great. Plus, the police will no longer bother you for sitting on the grass on a nice day...providing that you're not with a group larger than, say, three people. Mass gathering and protesting is still prohibited on the lawn.

This place is in the Downtown Seoul area. All the buildings here are pretty much government buildings. The statues are located in the center of the road and the walking area is pretty long or at least a good distance. If you are in Seoul, I would stop here!

Many dramas are filmed at this palace (for you k-drama watchers). The palace was nice, my favorite part of my luck in being able to see the changing of the guards! I've witnessed many in different countries and it's amazing how different they all are. My friend told me right outside the walls of the palace is a famous sidewalk, ...

Jongno is the center of Seoul - transportation, history, culture, and art, but most of all - street food. The street might be filled with people during the day, but it will be replaced with the bright-light street food vendors cart at night. Great price, and great atmosphere to check out some of the best street foods in Seoul.

    Myeong-dong NANTA Theatre

    22 Jeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea
    0.88 mi from Gyeongbokgung Palace
    8 reviews

NANTA is a fabulous theater experience that is loved by both Korean natives and tourists. The "story" very loosely follows three chefs who must finish preparing a wedding banquet in a very short amount of time. The show combines comedy, acrobatics, traditional Korean music, magic and actual cooking to create an energized and engaging performance. There's almost no dialogue and ...

The pre-eminent Buddhist temple within downtown Seoul, Jogyesa is the seat of the Jogye order of Korean Buddhism, and makes an excellent stop while you're in the central Gwanghwamun / Insadong neighborhood. I've taken lots of visitors to the city to this small, pretty collection of traditional pavilions, with their enormous ornate Buddhas, but my fondest memories of it come ...

Insadong is one of my favorite places in Korea. Things you find in Insadong: contemporary art from local artists, cultural art supplies, etsy-like shops where you can find one-of-a-kind clothes, accessories, housewares and more, awesome awesome street food and restaurants and cultural gifts for your friends back home.

Changgyeonggung is one of the big palaces in Seoul. The grounds are very scenic. During the colonial period, the Japanese built a zoo and botanic garden on the grounds, so not many of the original buildings remain. I recommend this as one of the most interesting palaces in Seoul.
