This is a great city, right on the Mediterranean. Cute markets and great restaurants, especially for seafood. I wish I had been able to spend more time here.

After backpacking Israel intensely for 10 days I had come down with a mild cold and Zichron Yaakov was the perfect place to recuperate. With a very friendly community, great food and a tasty selection of wines from the local vineyard, this town is a great place to stay over before continuing on your way.

What could be more magical than the setting on the shore of Lake Galilee? But then you see the brutal architecture of modern-day high-rise hotels and the tawdriness of its main shopping street. Such a shame, the place must've once been very beautiful. Still, worth stopping off at one of a handful of the city's pleasant and friendly restaurants.

This was our second stop in Israel after Jerusalem and was almost as great. We went to Mary's well and to the Basilica of the Annunciation. Seeing the sites mentioned in the Bible is a little bit surreal but fascinating.

Whether it's a home-stay or a boutique hotel, the village of Rosh Pina is a nice spot to stay. Because of its location on a elevated terrain, most properties enjoy unblocked views of the sea of Galilee it is a 15 minutes drive from the sea of Galilee. There are also lots of nice cafes and boutiques.
