While this neighborhood has evolved quite a bit over the years, it still retains its 60s era charm, with colorful independent bookstores/music shops and cafes and the smell of pot drifting through the street. It's a short walk from Golden Gate Park, another must-see spot for a visit to SF.Recommended for:

I both like and dislike the Haight District. I like Lower Haight, the area closer to downtown with amazing bars like Toronado and food options like Rosamunde. Upper Haight, on the other hand, is where I’m less of a fan. While the food, drink and shopping options are amazing, the area is a bit uncomfortable to walk through with all the burnt out faux-hippie kids lounging about, panhandling with aggression. For visitors of the city, it’s a must-see, as so much of San Francisco’s past was centered here.
