    Capitol Reflecting Pool

The reflecting pool sits behind the Capitol Building, separating it from the National Mall. It's a great spot to get photos of the Capitol Building at night. For those looking for long exposures, there are plenty of sturdy pedestals and such around on which to prop your camera.

A very nice and impressive building. The more you look at it, the more interesting details you notice. You must certainly have a look at the marvelous fountain in front of the building at street level.

The American History Museum is a fun museum to visit - especially for history buffs. There are all kinds of great exhibits that cover all aspects of history in the United States. Don't miss the rather strange George Washington Statue - it seems togas were rather popular with sculptors once...

If you're travelling with kids or spy fans (Or maybe you're bored of U.S. history?), this is the place to go! The only thing I'd say you may need to worry about would be the price of admission, as it can be a little bit on the pricier side.

Ford's Theatre was interesting, but I was in a food coma and dozed (to the embarrassment [and thus endless taunting fodder] of my boyfriend). We did just the tour of the theater where a park ranger spoke about the events of Lincoln's assassination. I still found the stories interesting, a one time stop in DC for sure!

Like many DC visitors, I come to the Museum of the American Indian for one main reason: the cafeteria. True, it is hectic, jumbled, poorly organized and a pain to get through, but the food is fantastic. There are a few different stations where you can hop in line to try various Native American fare; the last time I came ...

I'm an art major so I might be slightly biased, but this is by far one of the best sculpture gardens I've wandered through. The artwork seemed purposeful to me here. It wasn't just a bunch of abstract hodge-podge scrap sculptures thrown together and called "art" that the average person could not appreciate. This place was just really really nice! ...

We did this because we were unable to go up the Washington Monument - you need to get reservations ahead of time for the Monument. So this was next best for a high veiw of the DC area. But it is an interesting place on its own.

Signs written in Chinese aside, there is very little Chinese or Asian going on in DC's Chinatown. Nevertheless, it is home to an active bar and restaurant scene as well as the Verizon center which has helped to revitalize the area. The portrait gallery is nearby as well as is worth a visit.
