I honestly expected a pretty conservative décor before stepping into this hotel, but Hampton Inn & Suites surprised me with a boldly designed lobby that popped with blacks and yellows, and a two-story tall portrait of white flowers. It’s honestly a very memorable lobby. Hampton Inn also has a nice dining area where you can grab breakfast, a quiet little business room with four computer stations set up, and a smallish, yet sufficient gym.
The location may be its biggest draw, since it’s located steps away from some amazing restaurants. It’s also located near one of the rowdier nightlife areas, meaning you can party hard at spots such as Paris Club, Hub 51, or Hubbard Inn, and stumble home in a few minutes. Saving money on cab fares is definitely a plus.Recommended for:

This hotel has warm, inviting common areas and a very friendly staff. The room was a good size for downtown Chicago, clean and brightly lit. The Pollock-esq prints were a nice change from the usual hotel room artwork and the clean, white bedding was almost serene. Unfortunately, the spa and pool were closed for renovations, so that was disappointing.
It's in a great location--lots of good restaurants nearby (including Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, which is totally worth the splurge in calories and cash).
Be sure to call the hotel directly for reservations--the guys at the desk were quick to tell me that they can't give discounts or upgrades when you book online.Recommended for:

Soft, tranquil music and a large floral backdrop made me feel instantaneously calm as I walked into the Hampton Inn and Suites. Yellow and gray decor throughout the lobby also had a warming affect while chrome silver accents kept it feeling modern.
The rooms were open and airy and I loved how the pale green walls almost looked like they were covered in lace.
My absolute favorite part about this hotel was definitely the outdoor terrace connected to the indoor pool. Large palm trees and wicker furniture made me feel like I was in a cabana in Mexico rather than on a rooftop in the center of a major metropolis. You can also order drinks straight to your spot in the sun from the restaurant downstairs during certain hours.Recommended for:

Hampton Inn and Suites is nestled into a nice little pocket of the Chicago Skyline. The hotel isn't the tallest, and so it feels a little packed in by other buildings, but they have figured out a way to use this to their advantage. The rooms are cozy, not small, and the light and breezy coloring helps everything feel more open. It's most apparent when you're on the deck outside and the one building you have a really good view of is the Trump Tower. There are a lot of great places to eat in the area, and even though Ruth's Chris Steak House is attached, I'd recommend the short walk over to Sullivan's for a really good steak. People looking for deep dish should look into Lou Malnati's.
