When we stayed in the Hampton Inn & Suites in 2011, the free WiFi didn’t work in our room – only in the lobby – and the free breakfast was awful. But the WiFi problem has been fixed and it’s now available throughout the hotel. I’m not sure about the breakfast. Regardless, this nonsmoking hotel represents a good value only ...

It may not have a flashy name, but the NH is a surprisingly affordable, modern, convenient choice in the heart of Mexico City. The hotel is among the closest to the zócalo, or main square, as well as the city's cathedral, presidential palace, Templo Mayor and other important landmarks. The rooms are small and about what you'd expect from a ...

Hotel Majestic lives up to its name. The seven-floor hotel, which opened in 1937, occupies a 475-year-old building that originally was a two-floor house. It features colonial and baroque architecture, with beautiful tiling and bright paint everywhere, and a real bellhop in the elevator. (Also a security guard with a rifle at the door.) The rooms are surprisingly spacious and ...

Wonderful old-fashioned hotel in a great location right in the centro historico. Our room seemed a little grim when we arrived at 3am, and switched on the fluorescent overhead light (waaay up near the high, high ceiling), but when we woke up the next morning, it all felt like home. Good firm beds for a cheap place, and excellent housekeeping. ...

In the heart of Mexico City, historic district. This lovely hotel is walking distance from the Zocalo, the cathedral, the national palace and many more historic sites. The ceiling in the lobby is a chef d'oeuvre, a true inspiration of art nouveau.

Located just a short walk from El Zócalo, Grupo Habita have taken over the UNESCO World Heritage site Palacio de los Condes de Miravalle and pulled off an absolute masterpiece in pairing cutting edge contemporary design with the original and quite splendid original colonial features. A large inner courtyard separates the cheaper hostel from the grown up hotel - depending ...

You do not have to be a guest to jump in the elevator and go to the top floor where thee is an outdoor restaurant, and bar. You can sit up there with the best view of the entire Zocalo and have a drink.

Great hotel - in the center of Polanco, great location and really helpful staff! The views from these rooms are awesome - although the all glass bathroom was a little weird to me, the hammock in the bathroom was a fun way to enjoy the view.

I'm conflicted about how to feel about this place. Without its spectacular lobby and bar, it would most likely get two stars from me. The cramped, under-decorated rooms are, without a doubt, not the main attraction here. When you walk into the lobby, however, you feel like you're in a museum. Historical displays and artifacts are everywhere, and the hotel ...

The price tag of the St. Regis isn't for the faint of heart, but it rises above the city's other luxury hotels because of several impressive touches. The hotel is newer than most of its competitors, and it shows. Can't bear the thought of missing stock prices while you brush your teeth? Well, there's a TV screen embedded in the ...

The stunningly modern Camino Real was built by architect Ricardo Legorreta for the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. It includes many examples of fine art -- such as a Rufino Tamayo mural in the lobby, as well as pieces by Mathias Goertiz and Pedro Friedeberg -- and iconic bright pink, yellow and blue decor. When we walked into the JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City, we were immediately welcomed by a smiling employee, Paola, who cheerfully showed us around. Most of the Mexican-hotel employees we’ve come across have been friendly, but Paola really stands out.
