Hi Hannu! My friend Leif Pettersen used to live in Iasi and wrote the Lonely Planet guidebook, so I got this info from him:

I'm afraid Iasi in February isn't going to be especially photogenic. The winters are snowy and gray. The main street, Stefan cel Mare, has a lot of potential photo ops like the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Church of the Three Hierarchs and the Palace of Culture. If the years-long renovation has been completed, Golia Monastery is also right in the center and quite impressive. A few kms south of the center are three monasteries: Galata Monastery, Frumoasa Monastery (ruins) and way up the hill Cetatuia Monastery, which is my favorite of the three.

      Hope that helps! Have fun!

I'm going to Iași as well, in May. I'll only be there for 2-3 days, from my research and what my Romanian friend told me, here are the must-dos I'm planning to see: in Iași itself, the Galata Monastery and just stroll Bulevardul Stefan Cel Mare (Stefan the Great Blvd), there are nice churches and monuments along the way. But the main draw for me is the many Painted Monasteries of southern Bucovina (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Voronet and Sucevita in particular. It's a FULL day trip and a bit of a hassle to get there by public transportation, but I WILL go there! If you want to know how to get there from Iași, I've already done the research, I'll be happy to help.
