    Quan An Ngon

We spent 10 days in Vietnam - in Hanoi, Hoi An and Halong Bay - and this was absolutely our favorite restaurant (and we went to several really great ones). We were two families of 4 (with kids ranging from 7-10) and we all loved this restaurant. The hotel we stayed at recommended it and by way of recommending it, ...

    Green Tangerine (The)

I just loved the old mansion that houses this restaurant. Food was pricey for Vietnam (17 USD for set dinner in 2008), but very delicious. The ambience is totally worth the extra dongs.

    Tamarind Cafe

Really good fusion-vegetarian restaurant in the old quarter. We went in a group of six for a little celebration, and every person (even omnivores) loved the food! Good smoothies, warm atmosphere, credit cards accepted.

    Highway 4

    2 reviews

Highway 4 serves upscale Vietnamese food. The multi-story building has lots of space with tucked in drawers for shoes and low table arrangements to sit down on the floor. While the food isn't remarkable, it's solid and is a good overview of Vietnamese food.

    Quyen Van Minh's Jazz Club

    1 review

I was surprised to find out about an acclaimed jazz club in Hanoi. The music played were standard jazz tunes with an occasional Vietnamese song added to the mix. The musicianship was solid and the vibe was old-school jazz. It was great!

    Hoa Sua

One of our favorite oases for an early morning breakfast and cafe au lait! Love this spot and you get to eat knowing you are helping provide street kids an opportunity to build skills and break the cycle of poverty.

    Emperor Restaurant Hanoi

    1 review

I was very impressed by this restaurant which served first class Vietnamese food as its interior decoration is quite traditional yet classy. The food was delicious and unusual - not the kind of food we found in restaurants outside Vietnam (I went with a local friend who knew what to order), and I simply love it.
