Decades ago Harrah's used to be the top notched hotel and casino in Reno. But after ownership changes diluted that, and with the long downward slide of Reno with the rise of Indian Gaming, Las Vegas' growth, and the poor economy of the past few years, Harrah's has taken its toll. Still, it is a decent place to stay in Reno, at the center of the downtown area, where it is easy to walk around and visit several other casinos. They have a couple of towers for rooms, a decent sized casino for Reno, and several food eateries.
My mother has been a long time loyal customer, and gets free flights and room gambling trips under their Total Rewards program. Which proves it doesn't take that much bank roll to be a whale in this town, just loyalty.

Harrah's. Sighs. Why.
This is what I always feel when I walk into a Harrah's. Honestly everything here is kind of meh. I think the reason for this is that this place just isn't the greatest and when you come here with a half-decent expectation you always leave disappointed in the end. The rooms are ok, but the showers / bathrooms could use some work and there's never really something spectacular that stands out to me about this hotel.
Their steakhouse was decent, but nothing really notable either. If you come here with no expectations on a GREAT deal, then you will probably have a good time. If you are paying normal prices for this hotel, I suggest a skip to go to one of the others: Peppermill or Atlantis. You will have a MUCH better experience there.
