I had the great opportunity to try Hartwood Restaurant in Tulum, Mexico. Hartwood has been featured in Bona Petit Mag.
It was my great pleasure to meet Chef Eric Werner who started Hartwood, a truly sustainable restaurant. Hartwood Restaurant is a farm to chef restaurant that is 100% solar, buys locally and chooses to make all meals by hand without the use of any electrical appliances. Farm to chef cooking is back to basics and showcases slow roasting and open fire cooking. No electrical appliances are used in meal preparation. I know you cannot eat the atmosphere but the atmosphere was incredible. Muy romantico. I could hang all night. Signature cocktails, the evening specials are based on what is available at the local market that day. Ribs are one of Eric’s specials, and they were delectable. I was with friends and so we ordered several appetizers and entrees to share. Steak was my favorite. We had eaten so much no one had room for desserts. Next time.
Eric and Hartwood are featured on the cover of the newest cookbook Edible Selby
Loco Gringo looks forward to many yummy meals with Eric and his staff.
