I've been a regular here since they opened and the food and drinks are always top notch. Yes sometimes they do get busy but that's to be expected in a place that people like to go to. The haven burger and cheese plate are my two favorite items. The bacon wrapped jumbo prawns are to die for as well. If you come in during the day the short rib tacos are on the lunch menu and they are delicious.

This places makes me sad.
My bestie took me here cuz he had a good experience here. We came on a Tuesday night which is typically not busy.. It felt like a long time before we were seated.
When we finally sat down we looked at the beer/alcohol list and the menu. Seeing the slowness of service, we decided to order at the same time as our drinks...
Mac N Cheese
I got the Kung Fu Girl wine
My friend got a beer... don't remember the beer.
She took our drinks and just when I was able to say what food I wanted, she quickly rushed away to get the drinks. NOOOOO I said we were ready to order all of it...
So.. several minutes later... we ordered our food. Then eventually got our food.
Pork Fillettes: Pretty good. It's a large size for two people. I liked it.
Brussels Sprouts - OMG - It was SO salty. I had to drink ALL my water (which that also took forever to get) and I could not stand this saltiness. I HAD to tell the server - it's too salty. Please MAKE IT NOT SALTY. Please wash it with water. She took it back and came back... IT WAS MORE SALTY. My friend couldn't even eat it. We didn't even touch it. I said F*CK IT. Let's get out of here.
I ASKED to make it LESS salty... and it came back MORE UNBEARABLY SALTY.
Mac N Cheese - salty but not as much as the brussels sprouts. Don't get it. Not good.
Janine was cool.
It took forever to get stuff and I actually had to get up to get the bill and to also alert them THAT THEY CHARGED ME TWICE FOR THE BRUSSEL SPROUTS SINCE I SENT BACK THE FIRST ONE. Then I had to get up again and give them my credit card stuff.
I dunno. If I had to GET UP and actually hand my stuff over to service. Then that's bad. I've WORKED in the restaurant industry before, I wouldn't even do that. -_-
Slow. It was Tuesday.
A pub. Spacious for groups.
Not worth it. I did not feel like a customer at all. They were slow and the food quality was not good - especially since I sent back the food to be fixed and it came back worse.
I didn't even take it home because it was that bad and I'm Asian. I take EVERYTHING back home.

Gourmet comfort food with a great selection of imported and local craft beers, including their own by brewmaster David Larsen. Food: try the Haven Burger, Truffle Mac n Cheese, or Poutine. Drink: the Hafen Hefe, Diana Brown, Brewmasters Breakfast, and Hello World are my favorites.

Haven Gastropub is probably as good as you've heard. And I'm sure you've heard pretty good things!
You can order beers either by the full glass, or as part of a tasting flight. The tasting comes as a smaller glass, and costs about 1/2 for each. The selection should be pretty impressive for anyone who appreciates finer beers.
The food is rich in both taste and presentation. The best method of ordering seems to be with the intention of sharing; so order something your fellow diner(s) will help you with. The mac and cheese plate for example, isn't huge, but perhaps too much cheese for one person to eat the whole thing in one sitting. I'd recommend ordering 2 -3 items to share between two people.
The Oxtail Poutine (oxtail, fries, and cheese), is as delicious and rich as it sounds. But like the mac and cheese, I might hate myself if I ate the whole thing in one sitting. It makes for great leftovers anyway!

Haven Gatropub is amazing. I came here this past Sunday with 5 other friends. We all wanted to try it out since we all heard good things. The wait wasn't too long, only about 15-20 minutes. Everything on the menu looked so delicious.
Service: The service was great. Very attentive staff.
Food: The food was great. It was difficult deciding on what to order. So we decided to order almost everything (not literally)..haha. We wanted to try the Wagyu Tartare, however they run out for the day. We did order the mac and cheese, truffle fries, haven burger, lamb burger, and the sliders. The mac and cheese was super good and flavorful with truffle shavings. The fries were absolutely yummy. Especially if you asked for some of the house made ketchup. The Haven burger was extremely juicy. I want able to try the lamb burger, but my friends did not care for it too much. He said he didn't like the sauce. The sliders were good, but I definitely like the burger better.
Overall a great experience. I would definitely come back. The beer selection is also very extensive, so that's an added plus.

This time around, the place was not as full because it was after 9pm on a Wednesday night. We were seated after a few minutes and ordered food. Coming from an event, most of us opted not to order alcohol.
I ordered the chicken 'n' waffles ($15). I know, I could have gotten a cheaper version down the street at my beloved Bruxie, but I was hungry and that was what I wanted. My chicken and waffles came out dressed in a red sauce, which was housemade hot sauce. The waffle was coated in a maple sugar crunch. The combination of the two (sweet & savory) was superb. I don't know who invented chicken & waffles but I do say, that person was a genius. I liked it. Towards the end it got to be a little too sweet for me, so no need for dessert.
My friend ordered the mac & cheese and the housemade potato chips. I really liked the spiced chips with the garlic aioli, savory and addicting. I was able to try some of Shane's curried goat poutine and it was divine. It was perfectly braised with some interesting spices and melted cheese curds on top of pomme frites. So good. So I bumped up my review an extra star. This place can be hit or miss, but if the food is consistently good, then I'll definitely be back.
