Hayarkon is a really nice long park in North Tel Aviv. It's great for a picnic. There's a river that runs alongside it and lots of birdlife. There are playgrounds and a tiny zoo for the kids.

Shalvata is a really sweet place in the north Tel Aviv port. The food is nice, I like to go there with friends and have a drink. It is nice because you can sit outside on the deck and view the sea. Great place to hang with friends or just enjoy a romantic sunset.

If you found Amore Mio in the middle of Italy, you might find it totally average. However, in Tel Aviv's self-conscious and competitive food scene, it's nice to find an Italian place that isn't trying too hard or charging too much money; the owners seem to want to make hearty, good, simple food for a happy crowd.
