This ski resort is massive, and covers two states (CA and NV). There are plenty of lifts and lots of runs, including some double black diamonds. The only negative is that there is some flat between runs, which can be a bit challenging for boarders.

Heavenly is great, close to South Lake Tahoe and full of a variety of runs, so many it crosses two states! The gondola ride is great, even if you aren't going up to ski/snowboard. It can be crowded on weekends.

From Casa Tahoe it is an easy trip to Heavenly Ski Resort. Just take Pioneer Trail to Ski Run Blvd. and take a right. Heavenly is approximately 6 miles from the cabin.

Lovely ski resort at the state line. The view on the gondola ride is absolutely stunning - panoramic views of the lake and mountains! Second time boarding, and still a beginner, so I hung out around the bunny slopes all day (too scared to go on any other lifts/trails) and the Tamarack Lodge while my friends boarded.

Food at Tamarack Lodge is extremely pricey and is the only food option. I highly suggest eating before you head up on the gondola. Lodge also has a bar and happy hour starts daily at 3:30pm.

Was interested in taking boarding classes, but when I went, the last one was at 1pm - so I'd recommend booking in advance or in person early morning day of.

Probably the most popular and most often skied resort near South Lake Tahoe, this one is just about right in town. Catch one of the free in-town shuttles from wherever you're staying and ski the California or Nevada side of the ski resort. In summer, the gondola transports hikers and mountain bikers to the top.

An excellent, world class ski resort with the highest vertical drop at Lake Tahoe. The Nevada runs, Stagecoach Express and Boulder, are great since they have shorter lines and have plenty of room to ski even on busy days of the season. You can still take the lifts to the California side, because it's the same resort on both the CA and NV sides of the mountain.

If you ski or ride, Heavenly is arguably the best of South Lake Tahoe. Enormous, with terrain that varies from pure beginner to super-gnarly, the resort has the distinction of spanning two states. Heavenly covers a huge area, and the frontside views out over the lake on a clear day are nothing short of stunning. Spend the morning in Nevada, and then ski over to California for the afternoon -- this is my favorite place to ski in Lake Tahoe.

I finally made it up to the Heavenly Resort earlier this year, but too bad it was towards the end of the snow season. I'm not an expert snowboarding so I stuck to the green and a few of the blue runs to challenge myself. They have a lot of different runs here and saw some very challenging black runs that looks pretty intense but the people going down on those runs made it look so easy! The resort is huge and for you avid snow sports folks, it is a place worth checking out as it is one of the more popular and larger resorts in Lake Tahoe. You can get to the resort via car and park in their lot or you can catch a gondola ride from Lake Tahoe's downtown village.

It's expensive unless you have a season pass (which also covers Northstar) but its a massive ski resort with something for everyone. There are wonderful lake views and there is one run that covers more than 5 miles from the very summit to the bottom on the California side.

Our favorite ski area of Lake Tahoe. Big and beautiful, there are runs here for every ability. The area is well laid out so you can roam the terrain and not get lost. My tip: Start skiing early, break for an early lunch to avoid the lines, and ski hard until closing!

You can walk, ski or even take the free shuttle the one short block to the Stage Coach Lift for Heavenly. One of the best mountains in the US!

Big terrain, big snow and plenty to do after the lifts close. On a busy weekend stick to the Nevada side.

Probably the best skiing in Tahoe. The views of Lake Tahoe are breathtaking! You can literally park off of Hwy 50 by the casinos, rent everything needed to ski, pay for your lift ticket below and ride the Gondola up to Heavenly and be on the lifts in no time at all. Amazing!

We bought the chalet so we could ski and hike easily. Two of the lodges of Heavenly, the biggest ski resort in Tahoe, are around the corner. Our lodges and lifts, Stagecoach and Boulder, are the Nevada side. Please look at Heavenly's website map for accuracy. The map on vrbo only shows the lower California Lodge location not the other 3 starting points for Heavenly.

Just half a mile from the Cabin! Highest ski peak in Tahoe with 98 trails (longest 5 miles long) and 30 lifts spanning two states. Free ski shuttle pick up.

Big resort and plenty of places to ski. However it is often really crowded despite the space it's hard to be on your own.

It's like skiing on top of the world. Breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe while you enjoy the premier ski resort in California.

Description

Crossing into two states with a 3500-foot vertical rise, 30 lifts and a staggering 34 miles of terrain, Heavenly Resort is the largest ski resorts in the United States. It's also one of the most accessible; a scenic gondola takes skiers and snowboarders (and, in summer, hikers and sightseers) directly to the mountain from nearby the Lake Tahoe casinos. With this much ground, some of it is bound to ... read more
be flat, so snowboarders might spend time walking. However, the resort is large enough to pick one state (California or Nevada) so you spend more time on their remarkable 94 runs rather than traversing back and forth.
