When you get to the park, also check the free seasonal park newspaper for fun activities for kids that are led by rangers - wildlife talks, short walks and more. You can also buy a low-cost activity booklet from the visitor center in the valley that's filled with junior ranger activities for kids - after they complete the book, they'll get their own junior ranger badge, which is a fun souvenir. Stargazing after dark from Glacier Point is also a family-friendly and free activity..Comment.about 1 year ago. Report

This is a quick kid-friendly stop in Yosemite Valley, near hiking trailheads. The best place for kids to dip their toes is in the Merced River in Yosemite Valley, downstream where the water is calmest. Good hikes with kids include: Mariposa Grove of giant sequoia trees (southern end of the park - take the shuttle from Wawona); to waterfall viewpoints in Yosemite Valley (ex. Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Fall); and around Tuolumne Meadows in the park's cooler high country off Tioga Rd. Have fun!
