A great pre-theater option. Hell's Kitchen serves up "progressive" (i.e., upscale and inventive) Mexican cuisine. A personal favorite is the Hoja Santa-Crusted Tuna Tostadas with Guacamole and Grilled Pineapple.
Always kills me that there are tourists eating at Applebee's a few blocks over when all they have to do is walk to 9th Avenue to have something really good.Recommended for:

This is not beef & bean Tex-Mex...This is high end Modern Mexican that is absolutely delicious. It's a seafood heavy menu, but plenty to choose from with great drinks and solid serviceRecommended for:

While it was once a seedy locality frequented by prostitutes and pickpockets, gentrification has made it one of the best Manhattan neighborhoods. Hell's Kitchen is the safest answer to the people to come to New York, cannot figure out what to eat. A walk down 9th Avenue between 60th and 40th Streets will yield you a sampling of just about every cuisine on planet earth. The best way to enjoy New York is not to think of the food itself but just throw darts on a map and head to the nearest restaurant from the country it lands on.
Trivia here: Hell's Kitchen was also the site where 9/11 took place. Think I am joking? It is true. It was the site of a great train wreck on September 11, 1905. 13 people died and around 50 were injured. The neighborhood did not forget for many years, often referring to the accident as 9-11. That was of course until, something worse happened on that very day, 96 years later.
