take a room with balcony and it is rather nice, with the built-in washing machine etc.
comfortable, middle city, indoor pool, good place to have the Auckland adventure.Recommended for:

The Heritage Hotel is decent enough, but it's split among two buildings with a street between them. It's close to the Sky Tower and not too far from the ferries. I don't recommend their restaurants.

Its very cool that its an old building. But I also got an old room, but a big one. Had a nearly full kitchen and nice wooden panel floors but still felt like a place you'd rent if on a high-school trip. Not posh, not even businessy IMHO. Also its LARGE and LONG hallways. Meaning, if accessibility is an issue ask for a room near the lift. While I didnt have time (or weather) to use it, this place has a GREAT big pool situated with a perfect view of Auckland harbour. Next to that is a much larger than usual work out center. My sense is that is a Condo-tel meaning there are some owners who use these facilities too. Its not an AVOID recommendation its just not place I'd return to personally. Could meet the needs of others just fine. Again, I like the old meets new aspect (was the Farmers Department store a local icon for decades) and I hear their restaurant is decent but I can't attest.
