What makes Hershey fun to visit is the fact that chocolate pervades every inch of the town, not just the factory and theme park. The entire town smells like chocolate! The street lights are shaped like kisses! When you visit, bring your sweet tooth!Recommended for:

I liked the city well enough, but there's not much there. Hershey was one of the "company towns" completely controlled by the single employer in the area, so there's some interesting history there.
The whole place seems like chocolate, which is not as pleasant as it sounds.

This is all about chocolate - Hershey chocolate. The town is very pretty and even the lamp posts are shaped like Hershey Kisses. The best thing is probably the amusement park but take some time to go through the town.

Went to Hershey in the winter to see the factory and do the tour. Tour was disappointing it is a ride targeted for kids complete with singing cows and all. IMO don't waste your time.
The gift shop did have some rare versions of the candy which are probably hard to find anywhere else (think kit-kat Reese's combination) but that's about all this place had going for it.
There is a theme park, but it was closed because it was winter so I can't really comment on it- it may make the trip worthwhile...

Definitely worth a single visit, particularly if you live on the east coast of the U.S. My biggest impression was that the entire town smelled of chocolate, and that even the landscaping utilized cacao (chocolate bean) shellings as mulch. It's chocolate city for sure and wears thin once your sweet tooth runs dry. However, it's good family fun and something to see.
