While Hey Cupcake is very iconic of Austin's trailer food scene, the cupcakes themselves are a little too big and a little too sweet. The icing on top of the cupcake is so rich, and also equal to the size of the actual cupcake. The flavors of the cupcakes get washed out by whatever ingredient makes them sickeningly sweet. That being said, it is an Austin experience to have, and if you are really craving something sweet, Hey Cupcake would be satisfactory.

Delicious and uniquely large cupcakes right on South Congress for you to grab as your shopping on the strip. These are a little more expensive than the average pastry, but this iconic cupcake stand is worth it.

You like cupcakes? This is the mother of all cupcake eateries, and one of the very first polished vintage Airstreams to jumpstart the now-famous Austin food trailer craze. And why not? You get a quality of this particular kind of classic American pastry that would cost twice as much in a more traditional brick-and-mortar establishment, which really couldn't offer such a specialty in such a wide variety of flavors and textures.

I am just not a fan of Hey Cupcake. Every time I have bought a cupcake from them its always been complete dry and just not edible. It makes me want to drink 5 glasses of milk right afterwards and I just do not feel that are worth the $3-5. I can buy several boxes of mix and make them myself and it taste better and be a lot more moist.
Nothing really about them is completely special or out of the ordinary. I do not mind paying a bit more for a great products, but if I can make it better myself than its not worth the money.

If I had an Airstream, I'd also convert it into a cupcake trailer! The shiniest and prettiest food truck parked in the main food trailer park on South Congress, Hey Cupcake serves up giant, moist cupcakes that will satisfy any sweet tooth. Their red velvet and carrot cake cuppies are divine.

Hands down the best cupcake in Austin. Whats more fun then ordering a cupcake the size of your fist from an airstream trailer? Go early as it is common for them to sell out in the early to late evening. Their red velvet with cream cheese frosting is a top seller along with the Michael Jackson which is chocolate cake with a cream cheese top. Oh they are so good!

This is actually a cupcake truck that is on S. Congress. I love that area for all the shopping, and this is a fun way to take a little break. The cupcakes are delicious, and the people that work the truck are so nice--just like pretty much every Austinite I've met.
