Heywood Hotel

1609 East Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas
1 review

This original 1920s Austin home turned boutique hotel is the best place to stay in and experience the city's lively east side. The design is fresh, casual and sleek, with modern and historical style, like the original long-leaf pine floors found in the lobby and downstairs guestrooms. Each of the seven rooms is slightly different in layout and decor, but ...

Your Mom's Burger Bar -- CLOSED

    0.09 mi from Heywood Hotel
    1 review

Yet another hole-in-the-wall that ended up being surprisingly tasty. Your Mom's is in an area that seems to be slowly decaying, and it's very easy to miss it when you're driving. Once you park and get inside, order your food and go sit at one of the tables in the back to wait for your order. The tablecloths are plastic ...

Try to go around 1:30 pm, if you want to try to and avoid a LONG line. They might be sold out of something, but you are sure to get a bite to eat regardless. This is the best BBQ I have ever tasted, and I consider myself a seasoned veteran on the scene.

#BeOut You will definitely find cheaper bars and restaurants on the East Side. East Side Showroom has some crazy steampunk decor and makes all kinds of cocktails. It is a restaurant too, but I would skip the food. It is a little more expensive than some of the other dive bars in the area like Liberty Bar, the Grackle and ...

Casino El Camino is a hip dive to fuel up for a night on 6th St. The standard bar grub is above par (their burgers were featured on the Food Network) and the jukebox is rockin' with all the vinyl you wish you had.
