Hilton Bentley is a classy hotel situated in the quieter area of South Beach the locals call South Point. Right on Ocean Drive, it boasts a lovely lobby area, with a perfumed air that reminds one of a Tahitian breeze. The lobby welcomes you into the quiet yet exhilarating atmosphere that envelopes you in the feeling that you are on vacation. I personally loved this hotel, and highly recommend it. However, if you have a sensitivity to perfume, I would avoid it, as it has quite a bit constantly circulating in the air. It also boasts a crystal clear pool, and has suites overlooking the grandeur of the Atlantic Ocean, with miles of sandy beaches to stroll. The room was a bit smaller than expected, but had many luxuries that one would expect for such a high class hotel. There was also a kitchenette in the room. It also is reasonably priced for the level of luxury provided. The restaurant also provided a delicious meal influenced by tropical style cuisine with an American grille flair.

When I saw the ornate residential style rooms here, I was surprised this was where Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian chose to live while filming the Miami season of one of their reality shows. I’d peg them as more Shore Club or Fontainebleau types. The Hilton Bentley feels laidback in an affluent way—it’s pretty small, the pool area seems tame compared to the hotels further up the beach—and the guests appear to be mostly families, couples or small groups of well-behaved friends. All of the rooms have huge marble bathrooms (with bidets) as well as kitchenettes—but meals are available at De Rodriguez Ocean, which does mostly seafood and South American dishes. Celeb-magnet steakhouse Prime One Twelve is across the street, but De Rodriguez’s Happy Hour is more my style: $5 tapas and mojitos from 5 p.m.Recommended for:Family Travelers

Lovely beachfront hotel that puts the south into South Beach. I like this place, but I have mixed feelings about it. In terms of presentation, it has everything - secluded beach access, an inviting pool area, lovely rooms, fantastic in-house dining options and it's near all of the hustle and bustle of Ocean Drive, without actually being part of the chaotic strip. It's got just about everything you'd want from a boutique-scale South Beach luxury hotel. So, what's the problem?? It is so very expensive! So much so, that I just can't see where the money is going. As lovely as it is, why would you pay over $500 a night here? You could be staying on Turtle Island in Fiji! As nice as this place is, it's just not THAT nice to compensate for the outrageous rates. You can do a lot better, or at least on par, for a lot less in this town.
