Convenient location in the city where Hilton is based. Check out the posh ballroom and notice the bar and furniture from the retired Art Nouveau ocean liner. (The stained glass panels from same ship are in Metropolitan Art Museum in NYC.)

Some slightly upgraded rooms are a little odd with two small bathrooms on opposite sides of the small bedroom. Lakeview rooms have good view but others look into adjacent wings and brick walls. Solution is to go outside and enjoy the city.

Rooms and hotel are older, but are very nice. Great location and multiple attractions are within easy walking distance.

Hilton Chicago is a typical large scale hotel just slightly off the main downtown area. You seen it in many movies including The Fugitive. The rooms are variable but usually quite nice. The staff is friendly and the breakfast was very good.

While this hotel has rooms as low as $79/night, it also is home to the most expensive hotel suite in the Midwest. Refurbished in 2013, the Conrad Hilton Suite spans 5,000 square feet over two floors, and costs about $10,000 a night. Guests able and willing to pay up are rewarded with an en suite baby grand piano, pool table and a helipad.

Along Michigan Ave and South of the Art Institute a well know hotel with prime location in the heart of Chicago. Pricey but location is key.

This is a beautiful older hotel with all the grandeur and sweeping staircases and overlooking balconies that implies. Every president since FDR is said to have stayed here, including Obama. As one of the largest hotels in the city, The Hilton is host to many conventions and business meetings and gigantic weddings but it’s also a good spot for travelers looking for a discounted room in an interesting location. On Michigan Avenue but well south of the Mag Mile, it has great views of Grant Park and Lake Michigan and it’s not far from the “campus” where the field Museum, Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium all share space with Soldier Field. It’s also a comfortable walk to the Art Institute and Millenium Park, too, except in the dead of winter -- and you can always cab it. The typically usurious $50+ overnight parking charge encourages public transit. Park in a cheaper garage and leave your vehicle undisturbed because you’d only have to pay parking somewhere else! This hotel charges extra for the well-equipped gym and lap pool, with membership open to the hotel’s neighbors. WiFi is $18 extra per day as well. The patrons of the attached bar, Kitty O’Shea’s, always seemed to be having a good time.

The Hilton is the President’s preferred hotel and it is easy to see why. Royal décor, perfect desks, breathtaking views, and an accommodating staff make this one of the best hotels in Chicago. The furniture is great, and looks like it has been built for royalty. The beds are super soft and attractive. The desks really stand out here, and provide you with a printer/scanner, monitors, and every electronic outlet you would need. The alarm clocks on the night stand are really neat looking, and also have hook ups for mp3 players. The view of the harbor was one of the best I have seen, and I felt like I could see the entire Chicago water front. The staff members were extremely accommodating. One of the staff in particular, Melvin Jacobs, was nice enough to take me to the Imperial Suites where Obama and his staff would frequent during the campaign, and also where R. Kelly had an apparently unforgettable CD release party. This hotel is huge, and one of my favorites!

I was in town for the NRA Show, and the Hilton was one of the most reasonably priced hotels available. The location is great - very scenic as it's situated across from Grant Park and a short cab ride away to many landmarks and neighborhoods. If you want some local flavor within walking distance, go to Buddy Guy's legendary jazz club around the corner and grab some deep dish pizza at Lou Malnati's.

I enjoyed learning about the interesting historical facts about the hotel during my short elevator rides, and there is definitely an air of old school glamour. If you're looking for modern and hip, this is not the place for you. The rooms were quite outdated in terms of decor and my room had a strong musty smell which I eventually got used to. It also would have been nice to have free WiFi and free access to their gym. Ask for a room facing the park and a non-smoking room.
