When I visited the Hilton Garden Inn, it was undergoing renovations, and there were large black curtains covering up areas of the lobby with exposed concrete. (A teddy bear in a hard hat asked me to “bear” with the construction, so I can’t really complain. That’s just good comedy.) The rooms themselves had been partially updated with modern HD televisions and dressers, but looked a little mismatched with the existing decorations. Sort of a cool feature: the beds come with a self-adjusting “Garden Sleep System,” (think Sleep Number, without the copyright) so you can adjust them to your liking. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and told me a little bit about the building’s 50-year history. The Hilton shares a lobby with the adjoining high-rise, and guests are free to use its 35,000 square foot full-sized gym, which is a nice change from the standard 3-machine “fitness center” of other hotels.Recommended for:
