It is definitely a family destination and renting a vacation home for a week is an ideal thing to do. We saw license plates from all over like Virginia, New York and even Illinois. The sandy beaches here are clean and the water is warm. We met another family here so the trip was really nice.Recommended for:

Nice tourist spot to water, to live an exclusively tourist oriented island.. small shop shopping. Hilton head itself entertains you for about a week.. you will not need to go anywhere thereon. Clean waters too.Recommended for:

There's a lot to do on this island off the very southern coast of South Carolina! Outdoor enthusiasts will love the bike trails throughout the island; the beach and ocean draw families and nature lovers. Close by is Bluffton SC which has a very walkable historical section of the city. There are plenty of art pieces for sale throughout the island and the surrounding areas. Tanger Outlets are a reasonable distance away if you want to shop. Hilton Head Island has many retail stores and restaurants on the island; thrift stores also abound. There are also several different supermarket chains if you're staying in a condo and need food supplies. No matter what your age this is an island that appeals to all.Recommended for:

Hilton Head is a beautiful vacation spot, with its postcard-perfect beaches and lighthouses. Unfortunately it seems to have overgrown itself in the past few years, with chain restaurants crowding out the authentic charm.Recommended for:

"This was our first trip to Hilton Head and it was exciting to see the area. It is a beautiful place with lots of great places to eat. We enjoyed trying different restaurants as well as shopping at the outlets and local shops."

My grandparents lived in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for many years, and growing up I was lucky to visit them once a year at their plantation. Hilton Head is lush and pristine, the beaches are perfect and the seafood and Southern cuisine is fantastic. My favorite part about Hilton Head Island is that neon signs, bright street lights and tall building are not allowed on the Island so that residents can see the stars at night. My kind of place!
Hilton Head is also a very profitable golf community...just be careful of the alligators!

Hilton head is a really good place for families. You can go to the coligny beach and catch some waves, or shop at Island Girl and other little boutiques. I'd recommend going to Pool Bar Jim's if it's warm out. Sea pines is really fun! You can climb the lighthouse and look over the marsh. It's beautiful! Hilton head also has great seafood!
