On a three day trip to New Orleans, I ended up coming to Mother's twice. That's right. Twice. With their amazing Po' Boys (enhanced with the burnt bits of roasted beef), "world's best baked ham," and a bowl of beans and rice, you may find yourself coming back for seconds too. Check out their website and familiarize yourself with what ...

It’s a lesser-known fact that the Croatian peoples who immigrated to the Gulf Coast area helped to found some of the strongest fishing communities in the outlying areas surrounding New Orleans. They’re especially known for their skills as oystermen, and in 1969, Drago Cvitanovich drew from this community of knowledge and experience to found his own restaurant. When Drago’s son, ...

Sitting on a street corner a bit away from the Quarter, with large doors wide open to catch the breeze, this laid back hangout is a lively place to stop, have a drink, and share some chips and guacamole. Not a lot of craft beer selections but a full bar otherwise.

Live music + clambake! Lobsters, crab legs, clams, mussels, corn, potatoes, shrimp, and crawfish. It takes a bit of work to eat, but who doesn't enjoy a big bowl of shellfish? Bring your appetite, because a boiling pot for two really serves 3-4 people. It's right by the Riverwalk and the Audubon Aquarium, so it's easy to drop in for ...

Hands down the most savory meat dish I've had in NOLA. Worth the price and the wait!!! GET THE ONE WITH PORK or DUCK!!!! I also heard the owner had another restaurant where they specialize in fish. It's located behind their fancy restaurant. It's more chill and hipster-ish. Their cocktails are yummy too. Wish they had this in LA.

American Sector, John Besh’s restaurant in the National WW II Museum in New Orleans, is an amazing restaurant, surrounded by incredible history of the museum. I had a 3 hour birthday meal there and think I pretty much ate everything on the menu. The cocktails like the Jezebel, were outstanding (gin, mint, cucumber and ginger beer). I loved the Korean ...

When Executive Chef Donald Link founded Cochon (the French word for “pig”), he did so to reconnect with the culinary roots his grandparents’ planted by cooking traditional Cajun country dishes in Lafayette, LA. To that end, it’s a rustic restaurant inside of a renovated warehouse serving “ya momma’s cookin’,” or southern food at its finest. They locally source their pork, ...

Our waiter referred to the Bon Ton Cafe's offerings as Country Cajun. That probably means different things to different people. But the first thing I noticed was plenty of tempting selection that wasn't deep fried. I ordered Bayou Jambalaya for an appetizer and Eggplant, Shrimp And Crabmeat Etouffee for the main course and both were drop dead delicious. That went ...

Excelent food and service they cure most if their meats, and always have a whole fish that changes every few months. Many dishes are small and large plates so u can sample a fee. The pizza are thin crust and chared. Good wine selection and menu chsnges from time to time so keeps u coming back.

Bayona falls into the category of New Orleans contemporary fine dining. It's cultured, but a bit reserved for my taste (in terms of dishes and energy of the restaurant) compared to other dining options. It would be a great place for dinner with the in-laws.

Lüke is the "Hotel" restaurant for the Hilton, and what a cool and classy place it is. It has a grand old European feel, with nice hospitality, deep woods, and staff in jackets. I was here for breakfast recently and received an extra bonus when an old work friend (who I hadn't seen in years) happened to wander in just ...
